My point is that i personally doubt his tastes (or for that matter yours) are that niche; whatever it is he's into, it would be a safe bet to say there's probably stuff that intersects with those interests. Animated media is a huge field, obviously, but anything can look small in one's mind if one doesn't know what there is to know in the first place.
