If you guys want a beliveable rrat on why she's phasing out badgers I'll provide one.

Badgers were taking too much "space" on her channel. Nade wants the channel to be about her, not about the fanbase. When she saw her birthday card made by the fanbase, there were badgers all over the place, and even her singaporean friend (which she barely mentions anymore, have you noticed?) got almost as much space dedicated to her on the card.
Maybe she doesn't realize the reason why things like this happen is because 90% of the fanbase can't draw for shit and that's why the simple and cute mascot gets so much attention on fanart or gartic for example.

Also, she's a contrarian cute little shit, so the behaviour checks out.

I agree in practice and I'd like to add discovery and monetization to the list of things Twitch does worse than YouTube. But I have to oppose the above quote on principle. If a hypothetical platform became the better of the two through the use of extensions, then that platform + extension combo would be the better choice by definition, apologies for the tautological statement.

That's not the point. The thing is, those are problems inherent to twitch, you can't exempt them from criticism because of third parties fixing their shit. That's like excusing bethesda from their bugged releases because modders eventually fix everything.
One of the downsides of twitch is how you only matter if you are online. It's a lot better for people who stream all the time instead of people who stream on set schedules like most vtubers do. As Nade said herself, most of her youtube growth happens when she's offline, because the recommendations are showing her to new people. It's a difference on what each platform prioritizes, youtube prefers creators with good engagament metrics that feed the algo, Twitch rewards people who stream more by volume.

>> No.14534570

>>14533028
I'm not going to try to convince you or anyone on /vt/ whether Twitch is shit or not because it's fruitless. I'll just say that if you're popping out your chat every time and would like to make your experience on Twitch better I would suggest trying Chatterino. You can also add some of Nade's raid friends in separate tabs so you wouldn't have to pop out their chats either.

>> No.14535236

>>14533819
I agree with the overall point of your previous post, I'm just nitpicking the idea that extensions shouldn't be considered when choosing a streaming platform for your audience. If we're talking about Twitch as a company, I don't have a lot of nice things to say.
To piggyback of your second paragraph, that's the discoverability problem exactly. YouTube discoverability seems worse at first because not many new subs are going to come in through a livestream VOD. But if you edit those into more digestible clips and supercuts you'll draw people to the channel and some of them will even come to watch your livestreams to get the full fat experience. Twitch's clips should fill this gap but the platform barely promotes them.

>>14533497
Sort of. The affiliate program is a sandtrap that's offered to streamers with as few as 3 viewers. The minimum payout is 100 USD (that's $200 worth of Bits and Subs since Twitch takes half) so if you only ever get a few Subs or Bits from Twitch, they keep the money. At the same time Twitch begins running ads to viewers before they can join your livestream which are much longer than YouTube's and more than long enough to get a potential new viewer to click off the channel. On top of this, Twitch puts a lot of effort into breaking conventional ad blockers. Nade is probably fine with payouts for now thanks to a few generous chat members, but there's no guarantee that this will continue past her honeymoon phase with the Affiliate program.
Finally, there's the exclusivity clause, which doesn't really affect Nade since she alternates platforms, but someone who's still at 3 viewers benefits by mutistreaming and casting as wide a net as possible until their audience starts to coalesce. Sure, you can flaunt it, but you never know when the hammer is going to drop.

I think Nades twitch streams are better and more engaging than YouTube ones. I don’t know why that is, but it feels like a much better experience. Your critique of twitch features is valid, but anyone can gather a bag of issues about anything, I’m not turning on twitch to juggle 10 things at once, it’s just to watch the stream and type a sentence once in a while, so majority of the issues don’t exist 99% of the stream so I don’t subscribe to be upset about some ridiculous “in a vacuum” scenarios.

>> No.14535747

I've heard that YouTube holds comments for a few seconds so that it can stream them to the chatbox in a nice smooth waterfall. A benefit for big streamers but terrible for the small streamers who's chats have an actual sense of conversation.

That's true for subs, but the streamer gets 100% from bits. You pay twitch's fee upfront for bits, the cut ranges from ~28.6% down to ~18.8% depending on how much you buy at once.

Watched la+ clip earlier today and she said something funny and i stared at the on screen chat for good 5 seconds for the kusas to start flowing in, really disconnecting. I think it does make it feel much better for a smaller chuba channel, but majority of the time it isnt that bad for large channels where your comment leaves the screen in 3 seconds, but it still is jarring when something happens and the reactions are so delayed .

Wish youtube made that an option a streamer could tick.

Streamlabs and the companies like it were born to help facilitate paypal donations. Before they existed people used to have direct paypal buttons in their stream descriptions. Bits weren't a thing until 2016, so they are less common, especially amongst the established userbase. It also doesn't help that they call the feature cheering but the currency is bits.

Last I recall when bits were being introduced they weren’t particularly liked to begin with, because of the upfront fee cost when tried and true straight donating seemed like cheaper option to do the same exact thing. They improved the feature somewhat by having gimmicks, and the community got used to the fees for the most part, but I still don’t see why I’d use them over sending a donation.

My rrat is that k4gatsu had a lot more influence on her design than thought. Compare >>14537037 to the final sketch she had shown us. I think she let the artist make a lot of changes without offering much push back. She probably didn't even consider it her own creation anymore with how she credited k4gatsu in her L2D debut for the original design rather than herself. Her PNGs and L2Ds after k4gatsu's have been slowly changing things back to how she herself designed them. Now that she's learned to stick up for her own interests rather than just trying to make others happy, I think that she sees the new costume as a second chance and that she'll make sure it sticks closely to what she wants this time.
