I think it's half because Koopa was one of the first /here/ chuubas, and back then she was pretty much the only big one that everyone knew, and half because she made clear that she didn't want to pander to goslings, bundled together with all the rrats that followed afterwards.
it's probably for the better that she isn't leading on any viewers into a parasocial "romance" with their oshi, but that same relationship is also what produces the most dedicated fans that make ritualposts and fanart.

I think Koopa made a wise decision making some changes that made her more comfortable with streaming. But the way it all wen't was sadly not the smartest. I still support her though and wish her the best of luck. I personally like Koop/Troop posting so keep it up.

It's token time!

Post the following and I'll make a Magic: The Gathering token out of it! (PROTIP: YOU DON'T GET A TOKEN IF YOU DON'T FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS.)
- A link to the vtuber's Twitch/Youtube.
- The vtuber's species. I'll pick an appropriate Magic creature type for it. Don't try to guess a type for me.
- An image that follows the guidelines listed below.
- A link to the artist's original posting of that image, if you've got it.

Image guidelines:
- Roughly card shaped, or with a subject that can be cropped within that shape.
- Some sort of background. No transparent images or blank white backgrounds.
- Nothing excessively hornier than the vtuber's usual appearance.
- No stream screencaps. Stream layouts don't look good on cards.
- If possible, pick an image with some room above the subject's head. The token's name bar eats up some space.

If you think you have a better image for a token I've already made, post it! I might agree and swap them.

When I watch a stream, I do something else on my computer as well. That eats up not only processing power, but screen space. Having a fuckhuge stream quality trying to compete with whatever else I'm doing can lag out both the other process and the stream itself. And even if it didn't, the stream is being reduced in size anyway, so the high resolution is pointless.

My entire monitor is 1080p. I don't need the stream to be 1080p. Just having chat open alongside the stream eats into that.

Twitch gives zero control for this to the streamer.
Streamer gets to stream in one quality, transcoding is applied on the server end randomly with bias towards higher viewership, more online-time, partners, etc. It's somewhat first-come-first-serve but the nature of twitch makes it unpredictable.

Okay, that's what I figured. Resolution is how big the picture is you're streaming. Every second, you're sending thirty images of that size over the internet to Twitch's servers, and we watch them from Twitch. The bitrate is the quality of that image, so higher = better quality, but more data, which means you need a stronger internet to download it. At 1080p (1920 pixels wide by 1080 pixels wide), you are sending a LOT of data at once. Streaming at 720p (1280x720) means you are sending much smaller images, which means you are sending less data, and your bitrate can be lower while still having great quality. Twitch recommends 3,000 kbps for your bitrate at 1280x720 ( see https://stream.twitch.tv/encoding/ ). So google an OBS guide on how to change your output quality and make it 720p at 30fps.

You are, and that's good. I threw that in there for other chuubas who might be reading the conversation. I'll check out your stream when I can, although if your computer can't handle the game + your avatar + streaming at the same time, all of that advice is moot because the stream will stutter and chug for reasons besides picture quality. I suggest having a 2D game ready in the future since those games are usually light on your computer.

The question isn't so much "can most of my viewers handle 1080p" as much as it is "are they really gonna care if it's 720p instead if I can reach a few more people by just putting it down a bit"
and let's be frank most people watching streams, not even just vtubers, only half-watching them at best and flat out using them as white noise while doing other stuff at worst. Even the ones that are attentive aren't likely to be that much of a hardass about resolution.

Maybe I should rephrase: The only way most viewers are even going to take advantage of a 1080p stream is by watching it in full screen. Which most don't. Which is another reason to to not stream at 1080p.

This has NOTHING to do with internet connection or computer power and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that most people's monitors are 1080p. Which means if the stream is smaller than full screen, it's not being physically displayed at 1080p.
