The west didn't really care about vtubers until Hololive got stupidly popular last year (or, well, not since the Kizuna Ai hype died down), and being idols would have been even more of a debuff. Thet would've had to appeal to foreign markets like China oh wait that's what real Hololive did anyway

Without them holoEN would've NEVER been a thing, especially without haachama who was the pioneer in wanting an EN Gen and coco for going after it in earnest.
