all relationships, except "from mother to child", are purely transactional. Your friends are only there because you offer them something, even if it's just good company or an escape from mutual loneliness, it's still only because you offer something to each other. This is normal and OK. You should get rid of the idea that you should ever be loved intrinsically. That kind of love will only ever come from your mother, and even that's not a guarantee.

If you find yourself distrusting your friends, then make sure you look for morals and virtue in others before getting emotionally close. Morality is the framework of relationships, for example "monogamy" is a moral you might cherish in a romantic relationship. It's therefore necessary to look for this moral specifically before ever getting into a relationship with someone. Because it's emotional suicide to enter a relationship with an "open" kind of person when you cherish monogamy. Likewise this rule applies to nonromantic friendships: make sure you look for things like honesty, loyalty, bravery and a willingness to stand up for each other -- etc. The virtues of your friends should match your own. And then, once you've chosen these friends, you'll never feel these anxieties that you do now.

It's cool that Bungo's your oshi. I've watched some of his streams, and personally, didn't really love or hate them. They were alright I guess, but I know everyone has different tastes.

However, a major part of 4ch is the anonymity. Putting a trip on disrupts that. Avatarfagging is similar, but anyone can post a pic, so it's less so.

If you really want to get the proper experience, I'd suggest leaving the trip and image off, at least most of the time. I know this is spoonfeeding a newfag, but you're posting quite a bit, so it wouldn't take too long for you to pick up on this.

I *like* it here, and I don't want people ruining it. Like seep and cimrai, sometimes it's worth putting in some extra outreach to keep things smooth.

Also, have you made him a wiggly yet?

So are most female vtubers

this goes the same for anyone, including females

seems like you just aren't into watching guys maybe because you prefer a female's voice, mannerisms, etc but nothing you said is really different between male or female vtubers. You can absolutely "just play games" as a male and make it though. Obviously you need to you know...speak, but that applies to females as well. I've got plenty of female friends who can't get past 10 viewers because they just kind of sit there silently playing the game, and you can find tons when dumpster diving.

It does hurt when I think back on it, but I allow that pain to help guide my hands more carefully in the future.

I'd offer that you should remember, too, that everyone does this. Everyone embarrasses themselves at some points in their life. Especially here, where most fans are shy and the dynamic isn't something we really evolved for, you know? One human holding a one-directional conversation to a private, pseudo-anonymous group of people who sporadically chat back in a text box. Evolution aligned our emotions for face-to-face conversations and speeches, leaders, followers, and intimate love. Streaming is so far detached from nature, so it's common that cringey things happen.

If you got anyone to talk to IRL or see a doctor that's way better than venting to a bunch of equally depressed individuals on stream. Or just post your vents here where nobody knows who you are, that was the whole point of menhera mondays.

I order my songs based on intensity, not mood. If you are doing a karaoke set that is fairly long or time intensive, order them based on how you sing. IE. warm up, melodic, throat stressing, cooldown, whatever. I like Skeb. It's a lot cheaper and quicker than hiring a Western artist. My only problem is that if they screw up... Tough.

My first one I requested "Hey, can you do my avatar, but in this set of clothes?". And they just ignored that part of the request. There's literally nothing you can do about it, except maybe a bad review, but you still need to tip for that.

I use it often for commemorating stuff. So a silly thing happened, I'll get a skeb of it. I tend to browse by new artists, and find cheap ones, because I'm not yet pulling in enough to justify going more expensive.

Sometimes I forget a lot of people here (even chuubas) don't realize how different the culture is around indies. I can literally count the number of hololive streams I've watched on one hand, I have literally zero interest in watching a corporate idol.
And besides that, when you stop thinking of the term "oshi" as a specifically idol/vtuber culture related term and apply its general meaning to other walks of life, how many people's oshis are the most popular? I am not necessarily asking for advice, but looking at other perspectives. I have not gotten a skeb and I likely will not get one any time soon. It is just something I see often and wondered how I was *supposed* to see them, since getting a lot of art of your character seems to be the standard.

>>13259574
Interesting. But that seems like it would defeat the purpose. Most artists are not the ones I see getting skebs, so you are preaching to the uninitiated. Unless you are giving me advice, in which I will have to refer to my answer above. I have not gotten one and do not plan on it right now, but I am not sure if getting many skebs is an unwritten cultural expectation for western vtubers when it seems like they always have new assets or work done.

I would also likely use commission money for bills or mortgage before I use it for anime pictures, bwahaha, but I do think that is a good idea so people do not go out of their own budget.

Just a viewer's two cents. Skebs are just a facet of art commissions, and others have pointed out the fire-and-forget type nature. The process is highly compressed, and you just throw money and receive picture, contrasted with the back-and-forth of "conventional" commissions. That feeling when you get a commissioned piece done, or fanart in general? I'd wager that when a skeb comes back, it's very much the same critter, except it took very little thinky power. Chasing the "new art" dopamine with little holding you back other than money is much like other quick-fix type addictions.
There's also an element of "get a bunch done as part of a business approach for spreading 'the brand' around", but I'd figure most of the fellows in our neighborhoods are just happy to receive art, and 'push button get art' is an addictive loop.

Sort of yes. The whole married person angle is weird, but skebs can be seen as a form of advertising in the same way that all commissioned art is. Get something nice looking commissioned, tag it right, and then if you're lucky it'll get passed around Twitter or here and you'll get some eyes on you. Bigger artists definitely help with this, though even an eyecatching piece from a smaller artist will still do the trick.

Mint is a very good example of this principle in action. She skebbed good artists that fit her style, some anons passed around her art, and now she's experiencing a major boom. Not to say this is a fully repeatable experience, but it's proof that skebs can be useful for more than vanity pieces or stream assets.

I think a lot of people (or at least, the kinds of people that are in the culture enough to keep up with and watch smaller vtubers) can see right through that though. Counterpoint
Saying "The stream is a bit boring" is a observation about what you think is wrong with the stream. If a viewer states why they're not liking the streams they're likely to get it right. If a viewer posts WHY you're doing things wrong, they're more likely to be wrong (Unless they're a skilled streamer themselves).

Of course everyone knows a vtuber needs to talk so in this case "You need to talk more to fill in dead air" is advice even a viewer could give, but if you think of other examples it'll be more obvious.

Who cares? Be kind, do not worry about the whims of people who are committed to misunderstanding you. There is a post in this very thread who accused me of grooming(??) because I drew art of someone's oshi. It got ignored because who cares what some weirdo who wants to start drama thinks? Someone very kind explained to me that some people find it hard to be kind or they only do things for their own gain, so they assume others are like that, too. That does not mean you should let it get to you. Just do you!

>>13260587
Maybe this is something I will understand as I get older. Because, right now, that seems super weird. I figured people get married because they really care about each other, or maybe need a boost in military money. Why would you marry someone and then their entire job is to keep you faithful? You would be faithful to them because you love them.

I don't mind it! It's better than dead air or mindlessly reiterating what's happening in the game. It gives chat something to react to as well. I think a lot of the "boring" streamers don't do anything outside of streaming so they have nothing to talk about.

>> No.13261267

>>13261167
Boring is a subjective criticism, like someone may be bored by a streamer talking about art or something, but another person finds it more interesting. That's why you follow it up.

Also the idea that a viewer can't see what a good stream vs a bad stream is is pretty wack. I don't stream but I know what a good one looks and feels like.

>> No.13261295

Generally speaking it's shit criticism though. If someone knew why they were boring they would just not have done it in the first place.
Finding someone boring or not liking them is a fine opinion but it's not constructive criticism. Meanwhile even a lesser skilled person who's knowledgeable can still identify issues precisely even if they can necessariy do it themselves.

Art is a good example, every dumb faggot on /ic/ can identify issues with anatomy or perspective, its low fruit to go for since everyone has it. But it's actually precise and identifies an issue and isn't just "lmao bad"

Not that first anon but I'm in the same mindset. If anything, I'm more worried about weirding out the chuuba than people in the chat. I want to be friendly but I don't want to overstep my boundaries and become a bother or worse, a genuine discomfort to them.
Sometimes being too distant makes me feel like my words will come off as hollow, but being too close is creepy. I'm just a viewer, after all. And trying to slip into their DMs is just asking for trouble to me.

>> No.13261352

"The stream is boring" is an opinion, not criticism. The purpose of criticism is to affect change or improvement. Opinions can be useful when the streamer wants to know what people think (which they should want to know) but just saying something is boring (to you) isn't going to lead to many real changes.

For example, a reading stream, no matter how well done it is, might be boring to you. That's an opinion, your opinion, and not a criticism. "You stumbled over your words a lot" is criticism that can be acted upon with practice and preparation by the streamer.

That's the oppposite of what I said.
A viewer can tell that they find a stream boring or otherwise, but if the criticism isn't obvious like "You're not talking enough" or "Your audio quality is off" then they're referencing their own streaming skills in order to critique you, so its possible that they're wrong. nta but while the divide between viewers and chuubas is astronomically smaller in this kind of scene than usual it's still there to some degree. it's hard to feel like you can ever talk to a chuuba on an even playing field as a viewer no matter how close you become once the stream is offline.
but then that's a lot of the appeal to a site like this. Like sure I know who I'm talking to, and there's a nonzero chance you can guess who you're talking to at any given time, but because of the anonymity of it all those barriers cease to exist. We can talk about how a stream is going, or how we feel about other chuubas, or even our personal lives to a certain extent and there's absolutely zero reason to worry about an artificial class structure because it doesn't exist for our time here.

Papi is entertaining in small doses. Watching him long enough and you just pick up on how disingenuous he is for his chat. His main praise is to make streamers who raid him feel important so they continue to bring their communities to him. Can't really fault him though for knowing how to play the game for his bread and butter. If he weren't doing this I could see him as a small town shock jock on the radio. Though when you compare his interaction with people like krimbo, capthokage, or randon. You'll find people who feel more like this is how they act irl, more organic and genuine. Probably also doesn't help that papi was not secretive at all with his face and has live streamed etc. He looks 5'4'' pudgy has patchy facial hair and acts like he's tough online.

I did say small doses. Though loud noises and yelling appeals to a demographic and he fills a niche for it. From what I've seen though, he has more been kept standing thanks to the loyalty of other streamers who he's talked to like they're special because he has next to no common ground with his community. I watch a lot of streamers before they even joined his wrecking crew group; and their numbers haven't really improved at all from it. He also rarely ever raids down to help smaller people in his group if he raids at all; instead raiding people who are already partner often that aren't even in his group; and are instead people he wants to bring into his group. Some cases I've seen him pop into streams for months before a streamer joined; then after they join he is never in their community. Makes it feel as if he's just adding heads and hope that some blow up in popularity and feel a sense of reciprocity to elevate him.
