I really couldn't explain the what it is but here's a difference between characters meant to be ugly like Krimbo or some of the guys from the Gorillaz universe like I mentioned who aren't conventionally attractive cartoon/anime guys but aren't displeasing to look at due to how they're stylized and just some disgusting looking bum. It's all in the art style. I don't think there's a "market" for it as in people seeking it, but I think that it wouldn't matter if it's done in the right style.

Speaking from experience as someone who's used both a male and female model, the female model with a male voice tends to filter most people. There's successful babis but they also have other shit going for them (personality, art, successful streaming career prior to being a vtuber, game knowledge, etc) that makes it easier to draw in viewers and eventually find ones that don't care.

Swapping to the male model with no "debut" immediately helped me with viewer retention. "Change model" is the only advice I I'm really qualified to give but I doubt you want to do that. I personally have no issue with babis and watch a couple but I know it filters a majority of people.

I really need to work on 3 and 4. I can do a more appropriate voice for her, but at the same time I know if I'm speaking a shitton, and for long periods it has to be a voice I can do for that span of time. Honestly sometimes just plain zatsudans are fine. I usually don't even come to streams for the games they play, but the vtubers themselves, and the vtubers I watch are usually pleasant and compelling people. I guess just hearing vtubers talk about things they are really interested in is something I really enjoy and don't actually see that much of because they often end up focusing on what they're doing in the stream.

Nut really I'd also like to just see vtubers get creative and do non-game, non-art, non-singing content. It feels like vtubing is too often pigeon-holed into these three major categories.

Understandable. Sometimes, I just sit down and watch some of the youtubers I like. I used to watch a lot of NileRed, Numberphile, and maker channels before I watched lots of vtubers.

I wish I had gone with my first mind and started making videos, but I would have had to learn video editing and gotten my art good enough to make the videos I want to see. I just want to teach kids simple science concepts, but I am not skilled enough to do it all on my own.

I really loved doing reading streams, but I worried that maybe they were boring the people who watched me... I really love reading, mostly to get to gush about authors I love and sharing stories I enjoy in a way that gives you a taste of how I see them (with sound effects and music). Ah, I want to read...

I would say experimental at this point is "anything different" because the medium is still relatively new. If you try something unique I will check it out.
On the top of my head:

- Risu typing stream
- Fubuki Void 1&2
- Megbert's Dentist trip
- Slugma's baby noises stream
- Denshi Quest
- Nelson BFE stream.

Of course, actual madness stuff like Haachama's Australia lockdown arc or Watson's concoction streams are even better.

I had a feeling this would come up if i started posting, so let me clear some things up anon!

I started supporting kyuotto back when she had no model or a face to the name. Seeing as i was a vtweeter with nothing but twitter numbers to show, the only way i could sort of help people and friends was to rt their stuff for discoverability.

By the time she revealed her model i was kind of on the fence but at the same time I didn't want to just drop someone i did consider a friendly acquaintance at the drop of a hat - so I stuck around.

While there were other people that supported kyuotto at the time of the drama that wished to remain anonymous (this was prior to all the art theft allegations which did shift my perspective greatly) , i was the ONLY ONE to speak up and to tell the mob to stop harrassing her. On top of the fact that she told me to keep a distance if things were getting too hot.

Lets not forget to mention that kyuotto making promises to change her model to appease said mob, which i also attested to - something she DID NOT GO THROUGH WITH because she realized she was going to get support from the loli(?) community. This makes me look like an idiot, all the while i have people hounding me and harrassing me from both sides for some reason! Something she did absolutely nothing about!

Lastly i've already mentioned multiple times that loli characters are okay. They're cute. The concept itself is fine, it's like a cute puppy that you want to take care of. I'd just like for people to stop spouting this nonsense! Thanks! c:

Tiktok lets you post those short, easily consumed clips in a different format that you can then post to Youtube as a Short, Youtube is also a great place for edited videos of highlights and non-stream original content, and on Twitter you can post the occasional clip and interact with other chuubas, artists, etc to help grow your social network.

Twitch has extremely low discoverability but you don't need to be discovered on Twitch, you just need to be watched there because it's where a majority of viewers are. You absolutely should have a Youtube for Clips, Highlights, and original content. When making original content, you can even "Stream for Youtube" like Ludwig and a lot of other larger streamers do where they have a segment of stream that they just do things Live during. Randon takes a HUGE cue from this and does it all the time.

Twitch for Streaming, Youtube for Videos. Get discovered on youtube, get watched on Twitch. No one is discovered"on Twitch unless they get picked up by someone bigger which can be pure luck.
