i'd say the amount of people who enjoy being talked to by strangers and the people who dread it is around 50/50, which still means there's a 50% chance you're making someone uncomfortable. especially for celebrities, who already live so much of their lives in the public eye, it might be unbelievably exhausting to feel obligated to 'perform' that role even in their off time.

I saw Mori at a konbini in Tokyo yesterday. I told her how cool it was to meet her in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother her and ask her for photos or anything.
