Yeah, Hololive caught on not because they stream differently, but because a few lucky circumstances and the eccentricity of the talents back then (Haachama vomiting from spicy noodles, war criminal Pekora, Matsuri talking about not wearing a bra at school and such) made them stand out and the algorithm picked it up as a result. If she billed the videos as ASMR and read them in a slightly softer voice and without the BGM they'd probably pull in more views. I've been consistently pretty disappointed that ASMR in Hololive just translates to uninteresting personal attention/GFE ASMR, which I suspect is part of her (and many people's) aversion to it. Almost all my favourite ASMR YouTubers are men with deep voices talking about history, mythology, or science, like TheFrenchWhisperer or Let's Find Out ASMR. Just hearing someone talk about something interesting to themselves, or reading a story, is often far more effective for me than any of the Yandere GF Headpats ASMR stuff that most people cringe at.

She's just not that interested in ASMR in general, whether from a lack of curiosity or preconceived notions that it's all just kinda sketchy and icky stuff. Like you said, sure there are lots of different varieties and subgenres (and not forget, on the audience-side of the coin, different subjective tastes on what actually constitutes ASMR in general, crossing over into just "soft talking" for some), and if she were motivated enough to actually explore the space a bit, there'd be surely some things that she could do that are both "clean" enough for her self-respect and still give her audience the tingly fuzzies. The ironic and frustrating thing for me is that she actually has hit my triggers for teaching/explaining in the story time and German teaching streams even without an ASMR setup. I’m genuinely just very sensitive to ASMR but have no interest in the pseudo-romantic/sexual role play that it’s associated with. Even her teaching Mumei about Minecraft gave me very very mild tingles. Literally all she would have to do to make them the perfect ASMR video for me is teach some German phrases in a quiet voice with maybe some ambient rain sounds instead of BGM. Meanwhile the actual ASMR chuuba in EN has probably the most charismatic science at her disposal and has just made cookie cutter personal attention stuff so far, which for me is both worse ASMR than a video actually about nature and reinforces the perception that it’s just a GFE thing.
