You can actually own guns in Japan, there isn't really a country on earth other than North Korea, China, and a few terrorist Arabic countries that has banned guns. In Japan you take classes get a permit and after they make sure your not mentally ill you are allowed to own a shotgun, if you want a hand gun you can get another license later.

Guns actually aren't outright banned in Japan. They have allowances for hunting rifles and shotguns if you can pass strict qualification courses. Theyre just pretty much nonexistent outside of the north because nobody hunts.
