Why do I see this question almost every thread? Do you faggots not watch streams or something? She does some small yandere bits and jokes almost every stream. Sometimes it's only in response to SCs, but it's still there.

I have a pair of Sennheiser HD558s that I'm happy with (~$100 USD). Any 5XX or 6XX from Sennheiser should do just fine, based on the recommendations I've read. You should consider whether you want open or closed back, though. Closed apparently gives better isolation and makes it sound more like it's happening inside your head, while open might need higher volume but makes it sound more like there's someone actually whispering/massaging/tapping your ears.

I have openback and I honestly hate it because even at max volume it's hard to hear, and this is fucking $350+ headphones. I always have to opt in to my goddamn bose quiet comfort headphones and it sounds much better, but being wireless I know it's not ideal, but I also can't spend even more money on fucking closed back right now and it sucks.

You can modify them to be more like closed back cans by adding some foam to the housing, between the outer case and the driver. HD558s actually came with foam taped there. A common mod was to remove the foam to improve the soundstage and make them roughly equivalent to the more expensive HD598s, which I think had the same drivers.
I'm surprised you're having that much of an issue though. I only need a max of 60% volume on my desktop with no soundcard to comfortably hear even the quietest ASMR (Okayu's). I usually listen to Fauna's at around 40% and most of the rest at around 25%. You might just need an amp.

I almost want to get a closed back just to see the difference, but I doubt it would be worth it because this open back has been a wonderful experience in the time I've had it. Then again, if you're an ASMR enthusiast, maybe it is worth. I listen to so many different kinds that I wouldn't know what I've been missing out between just having IEMs and these headphones. In the end, I'm not even really sure what volume you're supposed to enjoy ASMR at. I feel like there's no guidelines on this, but it could have a huge impact. People meme about going to max volume, but I think they really do because they're stupid and think it's better. However, I feel like listening to high volume for an extended period of time like with ASMR, aches the ears and mind. Whether or not there's an ideal range, I suppose is a mystery. Never discussed it with other ASMR listeners.

I have a dt 770 which are super comfortable, and do have a great soundstage, but I believe they cannot really present audio as if its uncomfortably close to you. Whenever I listen its as if the audio is always originating right outside the drivers themselves. All headphones have strengths and weaknesses. You have to pick and choose. I'd say there are many great headphones in the 100-200 range, and I believe they are a good investment.
