I had a dream about Rushia.

I was back in grad school and I needed one class to graduate. Rushia, a professor in communications and signal processing, had advised me through my thesis and was on the review board. I noticed that I never took a class with her so I took remote sensing instead of advanced digital communications. I was infatuated. I didn't want to graduate because I wouldn't be able to spend time with her so I just kept taking classes she taught.

Figmas are cheap. The higher in price you go the more care tends to be put into details and making sure the character's face and proportions are accurate. That being said even models within the same line can vary and there's a damn good reason why it's recommended you take a good look at the images for a figure to make sure you don't have any complaints with it before committing to the cash and space for it

Detailed scale figures can be pretty damn good but they are also really expensive. Just look at the Marine one that was showcased today for an example.
Nendoroids are in a similar price bracket as figmas but they are at least aesthetically pleasing if you like the super deformed style. Some figmas look fine, it all really depends on the design being able to accommodate joints, but I think it doesn't work with Rushia.

I'd recommend using anki over duolingo. My biggest problem with duo is that it just feeds you answers half the time which probably isn't ideal for learning. I like to watch subbed clips without subs and then rewatch with subs to see how much I understand, but that's probably not very efficient and requires accurate subs which are hard to come by.

Thanks, and good luck to you too! It's going pretty slow for me since everything I find seems to leave out all the glue that brings those random nouns and verbs together, all the "kore ga" and "sore wa", but that's fine for now. People generally don't learn a language in a day.

Yeah I somehow missed that you said you were using Duolingo but I think it's universally regarded as completely useless once you pass a very introductory understanding of grammatical structure

People recommend Genki as a supplement but I tried it and all it does is do what Duolingo does a bit better which is give you content exposure without the flash card type focus Anki does(often I will miss the forest for the trees with Anki since I go into it with the mindset of wanting to identify the word using the sentence as opposed to identifying the sentence itself, which is less productive for getting lasting examples of grammar in my head)
There's some other channels I've watched overall, I'll link em later. I know there's one cool channel that's literally one Japanese dude walking around Tokyo talking in slow, simple, clear, and casual Japanese and subbing it with Hiragana
Also the old "listen to a language while you're sleeping" does seem to work a little, you should be able to find a playlist fairly easily

Anki is 99% the first thing I do and usually the only thing I do
The rest are supplements for when I have time
I try to make a Cure Dolly video once a day too after Anki
The sleep part is easy enough though as long as you can manage to play it in a way that's comfortable enough for you to fall asleep with
