Assuming for once this isn't bait, I'd like to fine-tune recommendations. What sort of content would you like? They're essentially streamers/video creators with animated avatars - VTubing is more a tool than a specific genre unto itself if you ask me.

>>10412263
Vtubers are just streamers with avatars, what you should watch depends on what you like to watch. The big names are mostly variety streamers, but they still have their own preferences and style.

To expand on this recommendation, Finana here specializes in more long-form, story-based games (GTA V, VA-11 upcoming this week), with occasional dips into horror (Outlast 2) and rhythm games (Muse Dash; has played Friday Night Funkin' in the past). Her personality... well, I'd describe it as the sweet, semi-chill little sister who says horny and TMI stuff because she's just that honest, and not necessarily because she wants to coomerbait.

Okay, here's this website

https://holodex.net/

The site is dedicated to hosting multiple vtuber streams and clips from multiple languages and vtuber groups that stream on YouTube. You may want to explore it a bit

Consider this: every vtuber group and/or streamer provides different content. You may get FPS, Minecraft, drawing, singing, ASMR, someone that acts like a girlfriend, or just conversating with chat.

Here are some links to some of the most popular english speaking vtubers, you may like to watch a random stream first:
>Hololive English
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCotXwY6s8pWmuWd_snKYjhg/channels
>Nijisanji English
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-JSeFfovhNsEhftt1WHMvg/channels

The algorithm will probably recommend you a lot of clips once you've seen a few vtuber videos. And if you only speak English, there are translated clips and some vtubers are foreign friendly, so you can enjoy the stream by hearing funny noises even if you don't understand JP/KR/ID/etc.

Okay, she's not my exactly my cup of tea, but she came to my mind when you mentioned RPGs. Unfortunately, it has have a (not unfounded) reputaton of being a debuff genre, so not a lot on the EN side specialize in them. Assuming youre not baiting, just visit all the generals, see if the vtuber design in the thumbnail hits you, see if the community in the general fits you, and the search clips for ones that interests you to see if their content and voice hits you. You might also stumble on other vtubers clips while doing that but its up to you if you wanna watch it. Also there's nothing wrong with watching clips if that vtuber youre interested in happens to be non English speaker(usually Japanese). Also since you said you prefer gaming content, here's some TLDR that I know of

Aqua Minato - Good in gaming in general, but mainly known for being an Apex autists. Or at least used to.
Selen - Apex, allegedly a Predator rank
Shibuya HAL - Apex, Master rank
Literally anyone in Hololive outside Matsuri are Diamond rank or below, so if you dont mind watching woman level of Apex go ahead and watch them. No, dont watch Matsuri's Apex, dont ask why
Suisei Hoshimachi - Objectively the best Tetris player vtuber wise(2k rating Puyo2 and used to do 1vs 98 challenge twice), a decent and shit gamer at the same time, but gaming isnt her main content, she is a music vtuber. Also she dont stream that often and streams very shortly so its easy to catch up on her VODs.
All guys in Nijisanji are decent gamers, that is if you see vtubers as your typical streamer and dont mind watching guys
Amelia Watson - Teammates said that she is a decent FPS player, her haters said otherwise, I dont know which one is true since I'm not an FPS gamer, watch her clips and decide for yourself.
Marine Houshou - Used to be a schmups player, used to play Touhou a lot, she beat LolK on POD mode, and beat Genocide Undertale in two hours on her first play through. Yes, used to, she dont play Touhou anymore nowadays, and gaming isnt really her content.

>> No.10417133

>>10417055
Gura - Decent gamer I think? Didnt watch her but try the clips and their thread. All I know is she is at least Suisei's level when it comes to rhymth games, but she doesnt try that hard.
Ina - Arguably the best overall gamer in HoloEN, but gaming isnt her main content. Probably the only one out of two Hololive vtuber to ever beat Hollow Knight's Radiance.
Korone - Retro games
Also, when I said some of them are good at some games, I meant it at a casual level, so dont put high expectations. Even Suisei gets destroyed in 8 seconds when they pitted her against a Tetris world champion.

Honestly a majority of the board might call this a bad practice but just look up vtuber clips and surf through what you like.
Pretty much all the hype is around livestreamer types so going through edited pit together stuff will give you a taste of the vtuber in it.
When you find someone you like subscribe to then and see if you can catch them live.

Tomorrow go find "Hololive Girls English Subs" playlist on YouTube. Don't fucking worry if you get nothing at first. Then navigate to hololive.tv and learn the descriptions of the talents by bloody hard. Then grind, and I mean it, bitch, you grind the vtuber wikia until you know it by rote. When you translate your first clip, mastering Japanese in the process, time to watch someone with severe speech impediment. I recommend Sakura Miko. By the time you train yourself so that you can understand at least 95% of what she says, you'd be ready to move on: the intriguing world of idolfagging at your feed. Parasocial interactions, autistic narratives, roommates. It won't be long for you to laugh at poor nijifags and EOPs that live off by sucking cocks and no longer than in half a year your donations will grow to the point when any Hologirl will get wet from your akasupas.

The basic bitch answer is whicher one is playing a game you enjoy watching.

The chad groomer answer is Yuria the red panda. You get to languish in 2view hell with her, fall into depression when she goes on hiatus, and then UUUUUOOOOOOOHHHH when you see her debuting with a new character as a big brand chuba. One of the biggest vtuber groups is Hololive and its English branch is the most powerful by leaps and bounds. They are all pretty high quality but the original 5 girls bonded so well last year when they were basically dumped out there by the JP company and left to sink or swim. Now all of are over 1 million subs and the Shark girl is the most popular Vtuber on Earth with only Pekora coming close on some metrics

Watch the collabs between them especially the Minecraft ones. The interaction is great between them all and it really drags you in

Well, despite what people might think, gaming talent isn’t the deciding factor. You can find any number of professionals at whatever game you can think of that can amaze you with their skill streaming somewhere. But they can’t always be entertaining while they do it. You still would want to avoid ones if you are offended how bad they are, but you’re probably going to be disappointed if you go with gaming talent alone.

Also try to not look into the fanbases before you watch someone. That’s just going to ruin your opinion of anyone before you’re able to form a more objective opinion.
