Ah that'll do it. These are the settings I use on my model. Pretty much default but change the res. If the res is the default (512x512 I think) then yeah the faces will look fugly when you upscale them in im2img.

Yeah I think composition work better since it was trained exclusively on anime, so it gives comps and gens we are more most used to. Also LoRA sometime stiffens comp so having these characters and styles baked in gives it more freedom. My crackpot theory at least kek. Hey /vtai/ decide to keep playing with Illustrious literally messing around just doing mix models and style loras, and to be honest I'm confused while with a new session suddenly all the result I was getting looked like if i had mess up with the VAE having a weird oversaturated burn in colors and a yellow filter all over the image. In the same session, decide to do a mix with any model that I had that was pony and XL the pony models failed completely any proper mix no matter how much I played with the values of this one, which was to be expected being pony base models, the strange part came when I did the same with pure XL models, it decided that it didn't want to play with most of them either and with the ones that wanted to play was very specific values AnythingXL was the most consistent in making it work in a mix after this the loras styles started to work as intended without over force it. Later I made a new fresh session doing an individual used of the model and started to works as if nothing happened no oversaturation, no yellow filter and accepting loras as if nothing had happened, I'm genuinely confused, in the meanwhile I found this lora of style made for illustrious and works wonderfully

I think this is just gonna be it's own base model like pony, it doesn't seem to be mergable in a meaningful way. So may have to wait a bit for style LoRA and stuff to be made, if you don't want to mess with style mixing stuff.

It's very sampler sensitive, most samplers will noise the image, so you need to use some of the cleaner ones with either simple, AYS, SGM-U to mitigate it. Also some jpg remover upscalers are useful too.

I wanted to share a strategy for finding new artists to mix with since I see the question a lot. Just go to danbooru's related tag feature and look up something you want the artist to have drawn a lot of. make sure to set category to artist.

I'll need to do more tests to confirm but a lot of the copyright tags have an inherent style, which I think is causing a lot of the variance. I think for this model it could be better to go styles --> characters then prompt. The character knowledge in this model is pretty strong so it doesn't seem to affect them too much. Prompt following does seem to take a little hit though.

If you use forge or auto, you can click the little hammer and wrench symbol when hovering over a LoRA in the LoRA list. It will bring up all the relevant information such as training dataset tags and you can copy them into the activation text field by simply clicking on any tabs you want to always have in the prompt when you use the LoRA.
For some LoRAs it won't show anything there, in that case you'll have to dive into the metadata yourself and check which tags it's been trained on, see >>86308157
