It often looks better than hires.fix on XL but the difficulty is you need to use adetailer to touch up the face but there's not a clear place to use it. Using adetailer before sending the image to extras doesn't work but also using adetailer in img2img tab doesn't work too well.

I tried that upscaling with pic related:
2x hiresfix https://files.catbox.moe/qudd50.jpg
2x extras tab + multidiffusion img2img https://files.catbox.moe/zpk5lb.jpg
Same upscaler model, seed, denoise, everything. I feel like hires kept her details a lot more than the extras upscaling, but maybe there's something I'm missing - for example, UniPC (my sampler) isn't the best one for img2img. Whenever I'm doing img2img I pick Euler A, but for the sake of consistency I used the same sampler in every step of the process in both images. The only other difference is:

It doesn't, unless you add _another_ step, which is throwing back your image to img2img and checking the box "skip img2img" in your ADetailer interface.
I think there's potential with this tech though, since you could reroll for better details, unlike hiresfix.

If you're strictly using A1111/Forge, then that's the best (albeit more complex) way to do it, though it involves more steps than usual.

I dunno, I don't have much experience with cosplay. It helps that the Okayu lora I'm using has very little style drift so I can run it and the Kiara lora with little issue.

I just use the default settings. I wonder if I should enable something different. Interstingly the issue might be the sampler for me in that Euler A is making the face worse, but it doesn't seem like you have that issue since you use Euler A. I have "Use separate width/height" enabled and set to 1024 x 1024. The smaller canvas size might make the difference. My guess is that your inpainting area is too large. On default settings the area masked out by adetailer is gets upscaled to the full resolution of your image. The tiling from multidiffusion is probably messing with things since it can't "see" the full face all at once. I think I haven't noticed it as much as my inpainting area is just a bit wider than my tile size.

Kind of want to try training a lora for the first time (on civitai since I don't have the hardware), I was wondering if there's a way to scrape tags along with images from danbooru into text files, like it wants? It has an auto-tagging feature but it seems silly to rely on that when the images are already tagged. Failing that, what settings do I want from the auto-tagger?

Auto tagging is inescapable when you're training anything that has a limited amount of data on boorus so you need to augment it with art from other sources, which happens often here for anyone training 2view vtubers. I don't know which autotagger civitai uses, so I can't recommend accurate settings.

I guess depends on what you are going for, if you just want to make characters in different styles and nice looking backgrounds 1.5 is still fine. XL models are generally better because you can get more complex posing and scenes out of it and it listens to prompts much better. Also hands are generally not a nightmare anymore. Quality is subjective so can't really comment on that.

The anime models also have styles built in that you can mix without LoRA but most use LoRAs anyway kek.

No. At least Pony is not very stable. You will most likely have to use Comfy to do the merging to finetune the Text Encoder to Model merge ratio and if pony gets too little text encoder it loses all of its capabilities.
The creator trained it at too high of a learning ratio and it has no common ancestor so it doesn't like other text encoders.
The others should be doable but you don't have what to merge them with. it's not the 1.5 days when you had 1000 models to pick and choose from.
You will just end up mixing a mix of a mix with another mix and get nothing much in the end compared to the base models.
The critical forgetfulness point is achieved too easy on these xl models.
Also, with any model other than pony, a single word can change your style. You don't really need to mix but rather find a combo of artists that does what you want.

Nah, no blending in. Was just surprised how quickly I got spotted though. I mainly got nai in anticipation for not being able to prompt while training and wanted to see how it behaves.
I haven't tried pix sigma yet. Only tried alpha long while ago and I recall it being a very hefty model because of the t5 which sd3 also uses now. Problem is I don't think t5 float32 is finetunable on 24gb vram and I can't use bitsandbytes either to train it in fp8 or something. I can give it a shot though.

Ok, so I tried SDXL with forge, still trying to figure out all the stuff with it. I have a few questions.
1. My old vaes don't work so I'm stuck without anything atm can anyone recommend me something that might work or do I not need it anymore.
2. Are loras from the older versions not compatible?
3. Are there any patrick nagel loras for xl?
4. Does xformers work with Forge, and do i still need no-half-vae?

1. Most XL models come with their VAE, so you don't need to set one, you can just choose "automatic"

Tried it just now on Onetrainer. Without TE it uses about 16gb of vram for Unet fientuning only. With TE training on it ooms.

SDXL has it's own vaes. I've been using the base SDXL one. You might not need one, but I haven't tried going without.

SD 1.5 loras are not compatible with SDXL. I think I saw someone developing a compatibility workaround a few months back, but I don't know if it went anywhere.
Also, pay attention to whether your SDXL loras are for Pony or not. Pony models diverge enough from base SDXL that people tends to train loras specifically for them. SDXL loras are technically compatible with Pony and vice-versa, but they won't be as effective.

Another anon linked the same one I found for Pony. I haven't found one for regular SDXL. You could try just prompting for his name. His style might be baked into some models.

Forge handles cmd flags differently than auto1111 did. You can read about it here. https://github.com/lllyasviel/stable-diffusion-webui-forge?tab=readme-ov-file#forge-backend
TL/DR: no-half-vae doesn't exist anymore. You can install and use xformers by adding --xformers in your webui-user.bat file like before.
Forge apparently has an xformers alternative that is "just as fast and memory efficient". (https://github.com/lllyasviel/stable-diffusion-webui-forge/issues/150#issuecomment-1936718993)) I personally just use xformers.
