It's still mainly turn-based, and looks like Persona with a class system. The action combat is just a way to quickly deal with weak enemies and start tougher fights with an advantage, it pretty much replaces ambushing. The most recent Trails games did the same thing.

It's good because it's a show that makes fun of isekai tropes as much as it does indulge in them. Part of the comedy in the show is that the other characters are taking the plot very seriously while the main character frequently has no idea what is going on and spends most of his free time trolling the shit out of everyone and then leaving like an edgier version of Tuxedo Mask

I enjoyed Mushoku Tensei. Read the manga up until recent back in 2018-19-ish then waited for it to accumulate. The anime adaptation is really good, but the early content is loli-heavy so content warning. The other one's that are pretty decent are No Game No Life (again, lolis, but probably worse. Best Isekai concept IMO, but it doesn't really end, it just terminates without the continuation it deserved. Konosuba is good as a comedy.

That's all I got for good isekais. FWIW one of her favorite shows, Youjo Senki, is an Isekai, but I personally wouldn't *really* endorse it. You won't watch them on my rec and you'll be fine spending your time elsewhere, but I'm dropping it here so you have an opinion from a genuine isekai hardass.

I really appreciate Mushoku Tensei getting an adaptation with some much care put into it, it's really refreshing after seasons of bland samey shows

That said the first season definitely holds up better than what they've done with s2, I adored them forgoing traditional openings and giving each episode a unique opening song relative to the town they were in at the time set to the backdrop of the show actually progressing, it really sold the adventure for me on another level compared to when I was reading it
