Ornaments are 10/10, the white trees for Mumei's name came from the DLC, as did the hot air balloons observing the tribute to our oshi.

Skyscrapers aren't too bad for record builders, they use up extremely little space and provide a crap ton of population. Level 1 - 3 skyscrapers have trivial needs (chewing gum, biscuits, cognac) which are fairly easy to fulfil, and the new shopping arcades work wonders at reducing consumption.

That said, level 4 - 5 skyscrapers require insane amounts of new goods with complex supply chains, and they look kinda off for the time period, so I usually stick to level 1s with a moderate amount of level 2s and a handful of level 3s. If you don't like skyscrapers, you can grab 75 level 5s for the monument, finish the monument, then mass downgrade them.

One thing about skyscrapers is that they are somewhat inefficient for influence farming though: each skyscraper level gives +1 influence (around 30 base residents per level, 30 pop: influence ration), whereas with Easy difficulty you get +3 influence per investor residence (50 residents; 16 pop: influence ratio). Since consumption increases based on your total population, you'll be better off farming basic investor buildings for your complete zoo / museum sets. Skyscrapers might be more worth at harder difficulties.

To be honest, I called them 'feathers' before, but in mind I thought of it 'feather-like element at the bottom of cloak' if that makes any sense.
Also personally, I'm not sure between total or partial coverage. Mass of just blob as body feels bit weird. (Definitely can work on small ones)

I really like the feathers on top honestly. Ina's Tako's have her halo and tentacles so it's pretty easy to get a idea on who's fans it's representing.
I feel like a blob gives you more freedom on how to pose them since there's no real obvious constrains on what they are supposed to be like behind it.
One thought I had was maybe add a beak element or knowing that spotted owls are a thing, something imitating that pattern or vague "feathers" on the robe itself?

if you want a beak it needs to protrude out of the cowl, you can't put more than one element (the eyes) into a void (the inside of the cowl). the other elements need to be tied to outside the void somehow.
I think that would make the beak too big and prominent. The feather on the head is probably enough of a suggestion of owl to make it work.

The feather pattern on the cloak is fucking excellent by the way, vaguely reminiscent of journey, easy to draw, identifiable, adds texture, it does everything.

I'm just gonna make some basic art with the design I feel fits best later, people can only argue about a design for so long

I'm really glad you like the pattern though. When I was looking at pictures of beaks it sorta dawned on me that owls aren't one flat color and the spotted owl actually has a super simple pattern that works well with the colors that are already present in Mumei's design.

There likely isn't a single ancestor that everyone has, I don't think evolution works like that. What I do know is this one time a supervolcano erupted (Toba IIRC) some tens of thousands years ago and it almost drove humans into extinction so everyone alive today descends from the people that survived back then. Those are more or less curious artifacts of the way genes and genetic analysis works. If I nuked an entire haplogroup off the planet tomorrow, the mitochondrial Eve and the Y-chrom Adam would jump forward 40,000 years and would change to much different genetic sequences and mutation markers. Evolution works by giving whole populations gradual changes and any one single mutation doesn't make the individual unable to have offspring with other individuals that don't have that mutation. If it was like that there would literally be no evolution.
