There's this thing babies do when they learn something, initially they expect others around them to also know what it knows, and as a result they often predict people's actions wrong. Neurotypicals don't need a theory of mindS because they can assume everyone has the same type of mind as them and be mostly correct.

Now, this sounds more like "other-awareness" than self-awareness, but when other people say that an autist is not self-aware what they are really saying is that the autist isn't aware of the neurotypical mind-model - they just don't realise that they're subconsciously assuming the "self" of the autist has a mind-model the same as them, because they don't realise there are different mind-models at all.

To get back on topic though, it's good to see Mumei growing more confident by the day. Obviously we know she had to hit a button to do that, but the illusion is that we have a window into her reality and it closes when she falls asleep.
