I think the original context was that he was saying that if you want to get a job it's normal and expected that you oversell yourself and mousey was saying that you should remain honest at all costs.
So he brought up the example of someone auditioning for hololive, i.e. the dream job (with admittedly poor phrasing), and mousey obviously found herself in a tight spot because she didn't want to throw anyone under the bus.
