This is probably a stupid basic question but I've never found much solid info about it.
With Forge/xl, what should I be setting my GPU Weights to?
I have an rtx 3060 with 12gb vram and usually just set it to be around 50% which is apparently 6143mb, but I assume I don't really need half the gpu for just loading weights.
I tried adjusting it a little either way but its hard to tell if it really makes much of a difference.

From what I understand for XL with 3060, you probably won't see too much benefit since load+compute will be far vramwise less than what you have available. For stuff like flux where if you load the model it takes up a large portion of the vram which limits the how big of res's you can go on it, so you generally lower that to give you more headroom to go higher res.

In short, doesn't really help XL models only for flux and other next gen models.

Though never noticed the portion about turning XL models into nf4, I wonder if you could gen with lower VRAM with that.

Circling back around to image generation after like a year. Last time I asked about XL several months ago, everyone said it wasn't worth it yet. These days everything seems like its Pony or Illustrious. Is XL the way to go, or should I stick to 1.5? Unfortunately I'm stuck with a 3070 with 8 GB of VRAM and 32 GB of regular RAM.

I've got a 6GB laptop card that works well with SDXL. I usually do about 1500x1300 and it takes around 40 seconds. The XL models are much better at higher resolutions and you pretty much never need Hires-Fix anymore unless you want a huge image.

My hologra dataset was probably too big, it seems the affects of this 2000 step lora don't really do a lot, at least if the background is white, with a normal background I can immediately see the effects. In addition to this, it seems the 3d Shiori lora I made is pretty good even at 1000 steps? Currently cooking up one for Kronii so I'll see whether these can just be 1000 steps with or without the hologra lora

Illustrious is not bad. The readme for NoobAI mentioned the model and PixAI also allows loras to be trained on Illustrous, so I decided to give it a try. The gura and ame generations are a lot more superior to the ones on NoobAI. However, NoobAI is able to pick up on specific artist cues, something Illustrous seems to be lacking on.

Of the ones I have tried, I think the Erina LoRa is probably the weakest one.
It has a noticeable effect on the style and anatomy. It's also a bit inconsistent. At 1.0 the outfit feels baked in, but below 1.0 it forgets major details.
Still happy to have it, but she seems a bit cursed with her LoRas.

IIRC artist names are trained both with and without the prefix, so both work fine in most cases
I use it because it solves some jank that happens with some specific artists
BTW, if you enable the artist toggle, it'll replace "artist:" with "by " just like before
