I don't think it was exactly the special ed class. I say this because when my younger brother was in elementary school he wasn't performing at the same level as other kids and put into a program. Everyday for an hour or so he would do similar things as Gura described with a different teacher. Eventually he did catch up on was on a the same level or better than the other kids.
