the first time i ever came across hololive was through Pixiv (for reasons) and when I clicked on its tag I assumed it was something like gacha. I ended up getting into it months later. When I was actually starting to get into it, I assumed Pikamee was a holo too like the other anon above did because of a clip from a collab.

I thought hololive was the name of a streaming platform like twitch, y'know holoLIVE, I was confused when I visited the website and only found character descriptions, also thought Pikamee was part of it.

When I discovered hololive I was surprised with how much I liked it. I was never into anime at all (except DBZ). I actually hated the moeshit for a long time.
But something about vtubers just resonated with me and I became obsessed. I still don't watch anime, but I watch hololive at least a little every day

I was a fan of the og vtubers so I knew about hololive and nijisanji for years but I only tried them in 2019. Before that, I had a dumb mentality of comeptition.

What is the retarded assumption I had? That they'd just be a niche little offshoot like kizuna AI that only a small amount of people and me who don't like short clips like AI but long mandering streams would watch.

I had knowledge of Ai before Korone got popular, so vtubers weren't out of the picture for me, but I assumed that Korone was indie that made it big before I found out about hololive proper. Also assumed it was a lot smaller - only knew Korone, Okayu, FBK, and Coco, and the last one only from the famous sleeping pills clip.
Luckily, once I dug into the rabbit hole, I fell at terminal velocity.
