But yeah, YouTube has been cracking down on any kind of ASMR. It started with "spicy" content from around May (we've reported at least on Hex/Taiga/Bisou). Then since November, I've seen channels being taken down, including while they were live, even if they've never made suggestive content. All without any strike or warning.
It was found (because people like to brag on Twitter) that small groups of like 5 people could send reports and successful take a channel down.

For getting your channel removed? Probably not; the terms of service should be written (by Alphabet's/Amazon's well-paid lawyers) to make the companies not liable for as much of their own actions as possible. Depending on how they tell people about the channels being banned, though, they could be sued for defamation; saying someone's channel was fraudulent (when it obviously wasn't) is probably defamatory, but the big question is whether that statement is made to enough people to constitute defamation.
The mass-report-to-delete pipeline is a common issue of many platforms, and seems to be generally a bad idea, so I don't know why it's still kept around. Twitch and YouTube are fairly notorious for bad moderation, but that's not a crime on its own, and not a breach of contract (the contract being the terms of service) because the terms of service do (certainly should) state that your channel can be deleted for any reason without notice. Twitch has been fairly discriminatory in its treatment of fleshies--women get a slap on the wrist for things men get permanently banned for--but I don't really see this paralleled in VTubers. While VTubers are treated worse than fleshies, that doesn't count as VTubers are not a suspect class.

Some background since I don't think I covered it for /news/ before (this was two years ago). vortex was initially funded/created through a crowd funding campaign and existing assets of ProjectBLUE members with the goal of lowering the cost of producing virtual lives. They've rigged their unity based virtual stage system to work with industry standard audio/video mixers, lighting and camera controllers. They wanted to run the studio/space like a real live house where artists can bring their own VJ/audio engineer/stage production staff and do a day/weekend gigs. For point of reference on this, Tier 0 competitive YGO decks have historically been in the $500~750 range. As in, heavily-optimized decks that would get you good placementsin competitive tournaments for months on end in an established game. Anycolor is still at a 62 yen gain for the week so far.

COVER TO THE MOON
Cover stocks make a comeback as the stock surprisingly shoots up to a new peak of 2749 yen (199) for the day. Their performance this time around saw them climb up within the first hour to hold on to that 2700 barrier before stabilizing, but they did see a small incline in the last 30 minutes to reach the mid 2700s. Cover's week now sees a impressive 242 yen gain as they make it competitive again.

Anycolor still remains in the green this week, but now only at a vulnerable 24 yen.

COVER CATCHING UP
Cover expedites it's growth, as it reaches another new peak in the last 6 months with a price of 2861 yen (112). Performance overall saw them spring up almost immediately into the triple digits, but they would fluctuate between the mid-low 2800s to even breaching into the 2900s and jumping over Anycolor briefly.
This performance also now marks the first time since February 6th where Cover's YTD is in the green, as well as 83 yen away from their peak of 2944 this year (Achieved on January 26th.) Cover now sees a out of nowhere 354 yen gain for the week, and are stepping Anycolor's heels.

The gap between the two is all but erased, with only 19 yen currently in Anycolor's favor.

I think it'll really come down to HoloTCG and VCard in the end. They have the powerhouse rosters and most people will be buying to collect cards, not to play the game.
No shade to the vtubers involved in the other games, but they just don't have large enough or strong enough rosters to compete.

Based on what I've read on the JP side (with Google/DeepL usage, mind), the distinction is as follows:
>If a vTuber is a talent using a stage name, the name belongs to the talent. Everything else still goes to the normal IP holders we know of now.
>If a vTuber is a voice actor playing a character, then the company in charge of the character is required to disclose the VA's name for crediting purposes (the credited name could itself be a stage name, though, so don't think this is going to result in a mass-doxxing; or at least it shouldn't).
These statements do track with what I know of Japanese IP/entertainment law, so I would be reasonably confident in these assertions.
Based on what the JFTC is saying right now, they're only announcing the opinion and intent to investigate based on that opinion. They haven't actually DONE anything yet, or even put companies on notice that they're about to have to do anything in response to this opinion. This is quite literally the warning shot for the warning shot. It is very possible we will not hear of this again in 2025, due to how slow legal process can be for investigating corporate practices on a national scale.

With that said, the next few months are going to be very interesting, especially if there's any heavily disgruntled ex-employees of a JP company that have thus far stayed quiet due to fear of not being able to connect their corpo PL to their current persona. I'm sure there's NONE of those, right, fellas? SURELY you didn't instantly think of a dozen different names of people with a potential chip on their shoulder that would gladly throw a JP corpo under the bus now that think they're free to say "I was [PL] in [JP corpo] and this is my story".

Last Week anon here, it's the final week in review for this year! Let's go over how the final week went for these two, and hell let's throw Thursday since I was out of commission yesterday.

ANYCOLOR SPUTTERS
Anycolor despite some decent highs, will only go home at just 2849 yen (16) for the week. Unfortunately this performance does not make up for yesterday's performance where they fell 47 yen to close out at 2833 yen. Friday's performance was rather erratic overall, littered with spikes and disp that kept them roughly in the high 2800s before gradually falling down to the mid 2800s despite Anycolor's resistance.

ANYCOLOR'S WEEK IN REVIEW
Anycolor's final week is rather flat as the stock barely moves with only just a 7 yen loss overall. They only peaked at a high of 62 yen on Monday, but they failed to capitalize on their start with only Friday afterwards seeing any growth. It's looking like in the short term at least, that 2800-2900 is gonna be the status quo for Anycolor barring major events.

However, on the 14th of January will be the day of dividend payments for the company. I'd keep an eye out on what happens the days after they're paid out.

COVER IMPLODES
Cover stocks continue their downward turn from yesterday as they close out at 2650 yen (-22) for the week. Compounding on yesterday's free fall of 189 yen to close out at 2672 yen for Thursday. Friday's performance overall was relatively stable, but shortly after lunch they would fall to below the line.

COVER'S WEEK IN REVIEW
Despite being left on a sour note, Cover's final week still closes out well with a 143 yen gain. Peaking at a high 354 yen on Christmas before course correcting the last two days. It's obvious looking through this week and the previous weeks that Cover still hasn't found a status quo. It will be interesting to see if potentially Cover in the last day of the year can match their YTD, but I doubt it.

OTHER
The gap between the two has widened to now 199 yen in Anycolor' favor.
The NIKKEI sees a 1.8% rise for the day, as well as close out in the 40k range for the first time since mid July.

The main issue here though is if it gets applied retroactively where things might not be as clear but they may want to be more broad in making it apply for retroactive cases since things may not be clear but that may clash in the case with singers and other IRL entertainers. I expect that the first option will be what Vtubers and the companies want more rather than the 2nd option with crediting because it gets murky really quickly with PLs and etc. but who knows.
Also, just because you may now have access to the stage name or character credit one way or another doesn't mean other NDA stuff doesn't apply. It would just mean anything regarding the stage name or character credit is off limits on control but everything else like inside stories and etc. can still be controlled.
