This claims that Fauna got about $17k on her superchat stream. Playboard says she got about $9.8k so did Playboard get it wrong? I decided to go see of this was accurate. But unfortunately her video removed the chat. So the only way to count superchats was to look at the scrolling chat in the video itself.

I started at the beginning when she opened superchats, and counted for about 30 minutes.
I got about 64 red superchats.
And 34 magenta.

After this I scrolled back to the beginning to look for any $500 chats, but I didn't see any. I only saw two $200 reds.
Assuming $100 for red, and $50 for magenta, the total amount of money on display is about $8300.

Considering that reds and magentas are going to be the majority if the income for a stream, this makes it seem like the $17k number is way off

Nijisanji has a much smaller roster of males compared to females, but their representation is overwhelmingly concentrated in the top half of the rankings, especially in the top 25. In terms of revenue its actually very good. One of the best features that twitch has ever added to encourage spending.

It's basically feeding into people's parasocial tendencies. Part of twitch culture is making channels feel like a "community". By donating subs high paying whales feel like they are gaining status while simultaneously growing the group. Sub gifters often fight with each other to become the top. The image I posted is a small indie vtuber who averages 20-30 CCV. See the major difference between 3rd and 4th place.

As for growing the audience this has more to do with psychology. If you were a twitch watcher that enjoys 10 different channels for example but one of them you were randomly gifted a sub then it'll definitely give you a reason to pick certain streams over others.

Gifted subs are also a way to give viewers a trial of membership benefits. Getting users to try out the emotes/membership streams while also playing into FOMO when they will lose their membership streak badge can encourage repeat spending. A superchat is often a one time deal however a gifted sub has the chance of converting a nonpaying user to a long term sub/member.

Finally gifting subs is the best way to involve the streamer to gamble their own money for the sake of chat entertainment. Its very common for streamers to do challenge where they say something like "If I don't beat this in an hour im gifting 20 subs" this encourages viewers to join the channel for the chance to win subs while also increasing the stakes proving more entertaining content all around.

My opinion: Gura is at times funny, is very talkative, never really boring, can properly humor chat, sings better than the average VTuber, and is generally a good overall VTuber. To me it’s understandable why she is successful.

I think it’s overall a good thing for Cover, particularly if they only allow raiding within gens. Otherwise maybe playing favorites could cause some troubles. Regardless of how they do it, I would assume it could boost numbers.

There's no doubt that raids and gifted subs would be beneficial numbers wise. But it's also pretty clear a lot of Holo's are doing well enough they prioritize tard wrangling chat and doing what they enjoy over incremental gains in revenue. As long as it's togglable seems like it might be okay but it would take someone like Ollie's chat from bad to wasteland, I suspect
