How important do you guys think it is having a Live2D versus a good looking 3D model?
Looking to start before the year ends and considering I have prior experience in 3D modelling I feel like it would give me more creative freedom in terms of outfits/props/accessories/etc along with hand/full body tracking but I have heard of people preferring the look of Live2D regardless. Any thoughts?

>> No.9127946

>>9127716
there are well known 3d model vtubers
if you can make it very aesthetically pleasing its going to be pretty much great, and its incredibly cost-effective
you can start streaming and make money and then get a Live2d, and you can stream with both models
possibilities are endless

>> No.9128083

>>9127716
3D modeling has more potential, but it's much easier to do a shitty 3D than it is to create a decent 2D model. if you've got the chops for it, a 3D model is more versatile since you can do extra stuff with it like importing MikuMikuDance moves, tiktok trends and stuff like that

>> No.9128286

>>9127716

Most of the top ENs are using 3D models, the issue is that a good 3D model is a lot harder to make or buy than a good Live2D one. I can find dozens of good quality Live2D artists are various price ranged with little to no effort but finding 3D ones of equivalent quality by someone who's actually even available to begin with is hard. The shortage of 3D modelers is so bad that any time the larger ones (Yoolies, JJinomu, or Artgun) open, they're immediately swamped with hundreds of requests that continue even after they close.

do your zatsudan reps. you don't have to be talking about just your game. i talk about an insane amount of shit when im playing a game i feel might be otherwise boring people might think im schizo, but it keeps the chat and my mouth moving. this is an invaluable skill as a streamer/vtuber. chat will be dead until you get some regulars to get your feet off the ground, but nobody is going to wanna stick around a streamer who can't do this on their own. most of your views will be lurkers, but why would i watch a streamer who is just playing a game and not talking when i can just do that myself and get the same experience?

>Have you played this game before?
Explain what you're doing differently from the last time you played. Talk about pieces of the series lore that interest you.
>Does chat know this game?
Ask for their favorite bits of the lore that doesn't spoil. If it's a game in a series (like TES, etc) ask them their favorite and why. Don't wait for a response cause you'll create dead air, while they're typing explain your favorite in detail. If you get some responses you can start reading from the chat and ask them more questions.
>Never played the game before?
Start speculating about story outcomes. Get really schizo with this one, make up some deranged improbable outcomes that might fit the story, or just what you wanna happen. Talk about characters you're interacting with.
>Don't wanna talk about the game/nothing to talk about in the game?
Time to get creative. If you're leaning hard into a kayfabe, take real life events and spin them into your narrative so you have something to spitball with. If you're not playing a persona then just talk about your life. I talk a lot about random things that I am interested in, or things I plan on doing or what I did that day. I often talk about my university homework cause I'm in a mildly interesting degree field.

Sorry for manager larp but, honestly, make some shit up. Being a vtuber is all about improv. If you can't do that then you're going to have an extremely difficult time.

>> No.9144883

>>9144672
I see this a lot with standard content creators, too. I used to watch a lot of Sims speedbuilds; what kept me interested wasn't the architectural choices being made, but the creators' commentary or the stories they were telling. Being able to make something out of nothing is one of the most important skills for any streamer, in my opinion.
Take this with a grain of salt, though. I'm no expert.

There's a new trend for 3D models on twitch is having chat integration which allows you to throw shit at them. Chibidoki has one and it's hilarious watch people throw stuff at her. It's basically another avenue of people donating to you and marks one of the biggest new differentiator for normal streamers and 3D vtubers.

Same as with >>9144672
>Don't wait for a response cause you'll create dead air

All the streamers I watch are the kind of people that can be quiet for 30+ seconds and then actually say something interesting or genuinely funny instead of just zoomer adhd babble and fake overreactions.

It depends fully on what sort of audience you are trying to cater to. The only thing that matters in streaming is being entertaining.
Your vtuber model, ebin bgm, heckin fancy overlays and scene transitions does not matter unless you yourself are entertaining.
Its something people here constantly cope and try to use as a crutch and as a reason to procrastinate.

Like the other anon mentioned, pretty sure they meant just adding some energy/life to your real voice, not necessarily throwing on a fancy accent/speech manner. i think i know why Kiara is my oshi now. she's just playing minecraft and instead of talking about random stuff like Gura, Kiara is just talking about what her life is like as a vtuber. the games she plays, the things she wants to play but was discouraged because it's not easily monetized. the pressure she feels to try and keep her chat entertained both in english and japanese. how she wants to avoid collabs with JPs because she's worried about chat relying too much on volunteer translators and not her. she puts a lot of responsibility on herself and is open to talking about it with her viewers. and i can appreciate getting that kind of a peek into her thought processes.

this is making me think about how i want to approach streaming as a new chuuba myself. i've been thinking about myself this whole time. my model, my rigging, my fanart, my skebs. but i don't take the time to think about my nonexistent viewers and what i can do to keep things fun for them.

I've been thinking about becoming a shota chuba. My voice is not very deep and on the phone people sometimes assune Im a woman. I can sing decently and I enjoy playing roguelites such as hades or slay the spire. Mostly in a speedrun or challengerun type of way. I also love rpgs and point-and-click adventures like day of the tenracle.I am not gay, but I wouldnt mind being obtuse about it for fujos. I can speak three languages (learning nip as a 4th) and have an interest in philosophy and medical science and would be okay with incorporating those into the stream. Just rolled over to my second month of being an affiliate. Checking out my subscribers, and so far, only one of three who's first month is up has resubbed.
Do any of you have founders badges, and if you do, do you keep the subscription going regardless, or do you drop it after getting the badge? When do you cancel subscriptions to chuubas?
I tend to cancel if it's been two weeks of no content with no prior warning, regardless of reason. I once made an allowance for Lemonleaf, as she said her cat was hit by a car, and she's since re-incarnated. So I'm now much more reluctant to give chuubas money if they're not performing.
But I've also dropped subscriptions (and unfollowed, once or twice) if they change what time they stream such that it's not easy to keep watching them.

How about you, anons, when do you cancel your subs?

You absolutely can stream just chatting streams to begin with.

But you won't get far. You'll have no viewers to interact with, you'll have nobody dropping in because they love the game, and you'll have to be super careful of OpSec.

If you can do presentations on things you're knowledgeable about, it might work, but you still are unlikely to attract viewers. Realistically, from streams I've hung in, you need about 20 viewers minimum if you want an interactive time with chat.

>>9213076

ASK
YOUR
FUCKING
VIEWERS

If you EVER run out of ideas for streams, or for celebrations, or for 'special events' and 'one-offs', then ask your chat what they'd like to see. They're the ones who're going to sit through it it. They're the ones going to dono if they like it. They're the ones you are entertaining.

Sure, you could go and do a EU4 single playthrough stream, because you like the game. But if none of your viewers are interested in that, it's a really bad idea to do as your event. Set up a google form, so it's anonymous. Or get them put it in the pinned tweet. Or on your discord's "Suggestions" channel. Make them feel included and part of the decision making process, so they're involved and are already invested.

We can give you ideas on what to do, but we don't know your stream, or what your viewers would like. So if I suggest go and play through Soma, but none of your chat likes existential horror, because you're a family friendly kid-game streamer, then that's stupid advice. If I suggest do a Civ6 multiplayer game with chat, but you're a FPS god that's #1worldwide in Overwatch, the majority of your fans aren't going to be interested.

In general terms, giveaways, sneakpeeks, and insights work well. Cheap channel point redeems, cheaper (integrated) sound alerts, let chat fuck with you - they nearly always enjoy your suffering.

But that's what would be interesting about a study like this; you could easily break things further down into, say, what qualities certain people in your testing sample perceived from their respective clip(s) and how that relates to the audience in question.

Like, if it turns out that there's a correlation between people who, say, watch more video content online, who spend money on video content/streamers, or who know of/watch Vtubers and finding the female-voiced playthrough more entertaining than similar viewers who watched the male-voiced version instead, that'd be a fascinating thing to note. And simultaneously, if casual viewers or people who don't watch streamers find the male voice more entertaining in comparison.

I just like the idea of actually being able to quantify if and how this really makes a difference, and theoretically it's a super easy experiment to perform since you don't even need in-person testers.

yeah, that's because your brain is zoomer tier garbage. the algorithm sorts you based on what videos you watch, how long you watch, whether you like and follow. if you're only seeing zoomerbait shit, that means your tastes are zoomer tier.

there are entire communities on tiktok that cover every possible topic on the planet. from books, cinematography, /x/ type shit, warhammer 40k and dnd every single fucking thing. if all you're seeing is zoomerbait, that speaks more about you than anything else. it's like complaining you're seeing ads for Grindr when using facebook or google. it's targeted and personalized to you.

So I've been thinking of content ideas for when I start streaming and I think I want to include playing games with online friends and family in it. I'm worried about how I'll probably just ignore kayfabe all together for these streams or otherwise how the audience may perceive that content. I still want to do it though because playing with them seems like it'd make good content early on when I know nobody will be watching so it'll be harder to interact with chat.

Playing with others would all be online with voice calls in discord, nobody would display their real names but we'd likely use each other's first names if we're familiar like that. My character's first name will just be my irl first name, so name slipups shouldn't be a concern. I'm also not planning on being super concerned with personal opsec compared to most chuuba, but would still like to avoid just straight up showcasing my personal life, especially if that may affect how other vtubers feel about ever collabing.

The only other thing worth mentioning would be that I'm considering doing in person gameplay with my brother as well, but this is unlikely to happen right away so I have plenty of time to figure out how I want to do that.

Next step is uploading similar clips, tagging them with vtuber, envtuber, vtuberen, vtuberclips, and whatever else is relevant. Second batch will be split between tagging the game and not.

1) The first 36 characters will show up in the twitch list. So you need something snappy that fits there
2) I've had success using puns, references, and stupid jokes (sometimes)
3) What makes your stream different to anyone elses?
4) Spellcheck it

So, if we're doing Crusader Kings 2, starting as the Vikings, and we plan on becoming a Merchant Republic (using ~ to indicate 36char):
a) Come and wathc me paly Crusader Kin~gs, starting as Nrose to become Mrechats!
b) CK2 Vikings
c) vtuber plays ck2
are all shit. More, the category will appear, so adding CK2 doesn't do ANYTHING

d) Viking Raiders to Merchant Navy!
is better, it gives an overview of what you're doing, timeline, and plans. But it's boring.

Personally, I'd probably do something like
e) Ikea, but 1000 years early

(nearly) everyone knows ikea. They're aware it's Scandinavian, that it's a large company, and so it ties you into a money making Scandinavian idea. It also gives you things to put into your schedule and go-live posts; and potentially you could use #ikea to get a really weird signal boost.

I went and checked CK2, but there's no games. So checked CK3, and there's six. Here's the titles:
1 - Sunday Stream: Hausa Party [Achieveme~nts and chill]
2 - Crusader kings 2 sunday nr 40/
3 - Burgundian Empire!
4 - Isle of Mann | Tiny island takes ov~er all of Britannia?
5 - [ENG] Learning the game. After a lon~g break from CK2... we're learning Ck3. Be Patient with my bipolar, please.
6 - First game, CK3

2, 5, and 6 are terrible. They add nothing to the game at all. I would not watch them.
1 should scrap "Sunday Stream". Even the fivest of heads know what day it is. The rest is alright.
4 is good, as it clearly tells you the plan, but should have a name for the stream (Hausa Party is a perfect example). 'Manny hands make light work' for a quick example that also isn't good
3 gives a good idea of what you're aiming to do, and doesn't overlap. The stream title isn't exciting, but there's nothing here that's bad, it's just not good.

This is also why you need a snappy NAME for your stream. 'Hausa Party' works for this - it's 10char, it's a pun, and you can make stupid memeposts with it on social media. It is very unlikely that a CK3 game will entirely be over in a single stream, so it means Hausa Party 2 can be used next time.

Entertainment is a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an audience or gives pleasure and delight. It can be an idea or a task, but is more likely to be one of the activities or events that have developed over thousands of years specifically for the purpose of keeping an audience's attention.

Although people's attention is held by different things because individuals have different preferences, most forms of entertainment are recognisable and familiar. Storytelling, music, drama, dance, and different kinds of performance exist in all cultures, were supported in royal courts, developed into sophisticated forms and over time became available to all citizens. The process has been accelerated in modern times by an entertainment industry that records and sells entertainment products. Entertainment evolves and can be adapted to suit any scale, ranging from an individual who chooses a private entertainment from a now enormous array of pre-recorded products; to a banquet adapted for two; to any size or type of party, with appropriate music and dance; to performances intended for thousands; and even for a global audience.

The experience of being entertained has come to be strongly associated with amusement, so that one common understanding of the idea is fun and laughter, although many entertainments have a serious purpose. This may be the case in the various forms of ceremony, celebration, religious festival, or satire for example. Hence, there is the possibility that what appears as entertainment may also be a means of achieving insight or intellectual growth.

An important aspect of entertainment is the audience, which turns a private recreation or leisure activity into entertainment. The audience may have a passive role, as in the case of persons watching a play, opera, television show, or film; or the audience role may be active, as in the case of games, where the participant/audience roles may be routinely reversed. Entertainment can be public or private, involving formal, scripted performance, as in the case of theatre or concerts; or unscripted and spontaneous, as in the case of children's games. Most forms of entertainment have persisted over many centuries, evolving due to changes in culture, technology, and fashion for example with stage magic. Films and video games, for example, although they use newer media, continue to tell stories, present drama, and play music. Festivals devoted to music, film, or dance allow audiences to be entertained over a number of consecutive days.

Some entertainment, such as public executions, are now illegal in most countries. Activities such as fencing or archery, once used in hunting or war, have become spectator sports. In the same way, other activities, such as cooking, have developed into performances among professionals, staged as global competitions and then broadcast for entertainment. What is entertainment for one group or individual may be regarded as work or an act of cruelty by another.

The familiar forms of entertainment have the capacity to cross over different media and have demonstrated a seemingly unlimited potential for creative remix. This has ensured the continuity and longevity of many themes, images, and structures.

Not him but in what regards? If you mean male entertainers in general it's easy to list a few, but in the vtuber scene it's hard since they seem to either be plain ol boring or extremely over the top. Or is that because it's actually just that easy? Is it really as simple as paying to have a model rigged, purchasing a license for some Live2D software and everything is straight forward after that? it's just streaming with a picture in the corner. everything that you can learn with webcam streaming applies to vtubing. it can be as complicated as you want to make, or as simple as just hitting "Start Streaming" in OBS and going live.

>How does that work exactly? Do you sync your phone and laptop together somehow?
i'm not sure what you're asking for here. if you're talking about the tech behind the iphone camera, it shines infrared dot matrix on your face and records your facial features using that. which is something android phones and standard webcams don't do.

that data is converted into an API which can be read by facial tracking software like VTube Studio for live2d rigged models or VeeSeeFace/Luppet for 3d models. that also requires the models to be rigged properly so that it knows that the data for opening your mouth makes the model's mouth move too. but you really don't need to worry about that as a streamer.
