>I used the new thread just to not dump so much heavy text and that huge table here
The image is fine, the text is a little heavy and needs some love in the formatting.
Here is an attempt of a formatting suggestion, all I did was to push each sentence into it's own line and break the paragraphs.

>If you want a quick summary, most categories of jp vtubers are falling in august, when compared to july, so I’m guessing the summer vacations buff was stronger on the previous month, or the july events were more popular, or perhaps it is due to covid restrictions starting to open up again.
>The only group who saw some growth this month was the apex vtubers, mostly because of big tournaments, so you can expect them, along with all the other jps, to take a deep dive now on this new month of september.

>Meanwhile, the old holo and niji ENs seem stagnated; and VShojo is back to having some small growths.
>HoloEN2 had its expected debut buffs; and Nimu is exploding in popularity for some reason.
>I’m using the metric (vod) views/time because it seems to be the best metric we can use for comparisons.

>There’s no way to calculate direct hours watched without having access to data analytics from inside each channel owner or bullshitting it; simply counting total views doesn’t take into account how much did they stream to get there (and they usually count small skits and music videos as well); and live viewers (on youtube) are very buggy and cut off a significant portion of that real number (for example, comparison between Miko’s twitch and youtube minecraft streams seem to indicate that 35% of her yt live viewers numbers are hidden [read the OP or the whole thread >>2253454 for anons discussion on the possible reasons for it) (not to mention that twitch max live viewers are constantly influenced by twitch raids coming from other channels).

>Reading and trying to compare all those ratios for each hour length would have been a pain for any of you, so that’s why I’ve already made the ranking tables, with ranks for inside each time length.
>The longer the stream time, the fewer vtubers that had any videos available to calculate.
>Never compare general view/time ratios of streamers who have very different stream duration averages - that’s why I painted those general rankings on the right in grey.
>Only compare data (or ranks) from the same time length.

>For combining those ranges from each time length, i inverted each position into a fraction (position/total), calculated the average of all available time-length fractions for each streamer, and then compared those resulting numbers: the smaller your fraction is, it means the higher yours positions were, so you rank higher.
>You can see a practical example (from may) here: >>4423534.

>Video types like short skits, short amvs/covers/original songs, watchalongs, members only, or private were not included for the calculations.
>Videos analyzed for 'this month' are from the time period of 31-07-21 to 31-08-21 (~11pm jst).

>You can see the biggest individual growth fluctuations with those vtubers who had some huge special stream (like 3ds, costumes, returns, tournaments).
>They can be big rises if the special vids happened on this month; or big falls if the special vids occurred on last month.
>On those cases you can see % change of one specific time length way superior than the rest for that vtuber.

>Collecting all this data was a whole lot of work, so no promises that I’ll be doing this again, or as big of a list.
>I don’t think I missed anyone too big, I left out the smaller nijisanjis, or holostars or whoever else because I don’t have the time to include them all - but I did include a few smaller ones just out of curiosity.
>Expect the list of checked vtubers to be cut by a good number on the next month.
>And no "now im suddenly a vtuber" trendhoppers were included either.
>If you think I left out someone relevant you can try convincing me to do their numbers as well, although if they are too small I’ll just tell you to fuck off.

For this medium (chan) the smaller the sentence the better, it gets the message across quicker and people won't read the whole thing anyway, most of the important stuff if already in the image you posted.

Thanks for bringing data and numbers to the numbers thread too, it is a breath of fresh air in the daily shitflinging that plagues this place.

Most of those "comments" came from her own head, she only used the few ones from the general audience to validate her own insecurities.

Gura didn't even want to become the "face of worldwide" vtubing, she just wanted, after being in the limelight for all the wrong reasons, to retire comfortably being one more chuuba in a sea of indistinguishable ones.

Subs is a measure of how many people clicked the subscribe button. No more, no less.

It could be a proxy for “burst of popularity at one point” (see KizunaAI) or “continued production of interesting content sparsely in time you want a reminder” (see JunsKitchen, 5M subs with cat food recipes pretty much) but it may mean nothing of the sort as well (see Choco Sub account)

I was interested in seeing the western interest for a male Vtuber so I searched both Kuzuha and Kanae clips and manually added up the views on subbed clips from the last week.
I stopped counting clips once they reached double digit views. Also English Subbed/titled videos only.
I didn't include mega compilations but if you want you can just add 65k to the nijis.

>Kuzuha (111k, 23 videos)
>Kanae (133k, 20 videos)

For fun I did Fuwa and Astel
Fuwa (17k, 5 videos)
Astel (15.6k, 6 videos)

Overall I'm not seeing a huge demand for Male vtubers.
However based on the comments a large portion of the watchers are women. This is a new audience with no real overlap with the existing one. If anything its closer to the Utaite/KPop audience than the EN Vtuber audience.

My prediction is that NijiEN male wave won't be a huge hit in terms of numbers. Probably on par with current NijiEN numbers but it won't cannibalize EN Viewers much making it a good investment.

Those are a different brand, they prove that you can become a vtuber and see a rise in popularity, but they already had a big audience. Also, they and other popular streamers who would have wanted to get a vtuber avatar, are basically out of the question. Because why throw away a good chunk or your time and money for a smaller gig where you 'maybe' succeed.

If Niji is lucky and a semi-big streamer, debuts and carries over their 20-50k follower audience on top of the eventual 50-100k subs than they will be a hit and cause others to follow.
But for nobodies, even if they're talented, it's as 1st anon said, test run on if there is a demand and they'll be popular.

I’ll give my 100% subjective opinion: it could but it wouldn’t be worthy for the same reason it ended up not being worthy to be on Bilibili.

Whenever you hear about Twitch from outside it is almost always about some drama, someone getting cancelled, someone getting me too’d, Twitch having to change rules to fix some arbitrary problem.
Sadly burger audience is the zhangs of the west, sticking with the Youtube audience is much more “house broken” by influence of the first few waves that emulated the Japanese ones (but without the craziness that only nips can pull, like torching an anime studio because they supposedly stole his train idea).

Anyway, Gura would benefit from Twitch as much as she would benefit from being more active on Twitter, but the potential drawback makes it not worthy

Not to get too deep into the weeds but most people aren't important. That's why you often have near simultaneous "discoveries" with one person beating another out by a few months and the other guy becoming a historical footnote. Macro trends lead to certain outcomes and it's inevitable that one person does the thing first and gets famous for it. The advent of cheap Live2D software made it inevitable that people would use it for livestreaming and lead to the realization that it was much less effort and far more lucrative than making dedicated scripted content.

Since they are new channels and still getting new viewers the youtube queues are slow and also messing with the their counts.
Rrat last night was at 130k for her bayo stream and this morning she was 120k.
As posted above since they are new channels, i think youtube is taking more time to validate both live viewers and vod views. Hence why this kroni stream will end up being like sub 100k views at te end and then rise to 100k+ in the subsequent hours.

I would say that’s because it’s a great wat to get your channel flagged for “botting” or “manipulating views”.
If you increased the sample from your 10 to, let’s say, 500 to make of comparable with the vtubing scene, and the number of tabbing in and out on the 100s, that would be an excellent experiment but I doubt anyone capable of pulling CCV wants to risk their channel.
