The only reason I joined so late to the game are shitty indie vtubers doing nothing but react streams and chatting with some coom, screams and sometimes fart "jokes" thrown in for good measure.
I witnessed solid 2-3 digit streamers going vtuber and the quality of their content immediately hit rock bottom while viewer numbers actually rose up the very second they turned on their anime girl model.

The regular streams are merely a tool to interact with them and kill time between major events. If you want to saviorfag some random 2view, you only get the filler and never the major events. If you go for other big chuubas outside Holo, then you also get the events, but in turn there will be a shitload of other chuubas you should be familiar with to enjoy said events to the fullest.
It's already hard as fuck to keep up with Holos, imagine if I started adding to that. If anything, I'm thinking about which Holos to drop because it's too much already. I'll stick with my oshi, collabs involving her, and clips/songs/3D streams of the others just to be familiar enough to get the most from the big SPWN concerts.
