I've seen this suggested before. Docking the value of divvies from a coin completely invalidates the purpose of dividends while punishing people for making what should be good long-term decisions. Any coin you're holding basically stops having value on Friday night, meaning you would be encouraged to DUMP coins at their highest point before friday night, and then not rebuy until after dividends. In a way, it's basically moving the problem to a different part of the weekly gameplay loop. In the current metagame, dividends pose two core problems:

Only in the short term. Operation Bogration was attacking a symptom. Coin prices are not the issue. They're not even related to the issue. Coin prices are exclusively a symptom of the core issues, and proof of inflation.
In a game like this where players are given free money for joining and holding coins, inflation is completely unavoidable. Can't be helped; that's just gonna be how it goes. Numbers will all go up in the long run.

That said, Operation Bogration was not "risk". It was "inevitability". Risk is a chance of failure, or a test of your competence and awareness. Risk is something you should be able to account for and consider at all times, but it should be manageable. When I talk about "introducing risk to the market", I don't mean "just bog everyone's divvies fuck the oshicoiners", I mean "force people to consider the risk factor in maintaining a static position that primarily trends upward". "Risk" should be something that makes you consider taking a hit to position now to get ahead later.

Maybe an example would help.
Let's say I'm Tampa. I want the crown on Marine's oshiboard more than I want to wake up tomorrow. Marine's having the time of her life, streaming like crazy, I'm in a contest with M for the crown, we're buying like mad...and Marine suddenly can't stream for a few weeks because she got sick or finally needs to get that hip replacement or whatever. She's out; completely unavoidable, and it's sudden so she doesn't have a billion clips to post to fill the gap.
This is where the Risk comes in: Do I, as somebody that desperately wants to grab and hold that crown, buy in hard while the coin value crashes from nostream? Or do I wait for others to try and do that, eat shit from "upkeep" costs of negative dividends, and buy hard once it seems like she's about to return and my rivals are potentially of lower liquid than I?

This is the sort of dynamic I'm talking about introducing when I say "Risk": Is it smarter to do nothing or take a hit now to further my position later, instead of just blindly setting the autotrader to 99999 and let the chips fall where they may?
