>What is /asp/?
/asp/ is a thread for Vtubers to give and receive advice related to Vtubing.

>Should I stream on Twitch or YouTube?
Most people would recommend against streaming on YouTube if you don't have an established subscriber base from making videos.

>Is there an audience for X?
Would you watch someone do X?
Is someone already doing X?

>What video editor should I use for editing clips?
DaVinci Resolve, Kdenlive, & CapCut if you don't feel like spending money or pirating, otherwise use Vegas Pro or Premiere.

Voice is important in the sense that this will be how a lot of fans recognize you, emulate you, connect with you, remember even the heights of your stuff. It's something that could carry you alone IF the topics of discussion were fulfilling the audience's needs and exceeding some of their expectations. I'm using a Logitech C920x HD Pro for my handcam streams right now, and I'm wondering if I can keep these gunpla/plamo streams going, if it's worth upgrading cameras in the future. >>88155378
ok! I went through your channel and listened a bit through some VODs, here's the main things I would recommend
- Clean up your stream setup, get some overlays and put chat/notifs on the screen. use Streamelements for this if you aren't aware of them already. it's just a bare minimum change that tells new viewers that you're putting some amount of effort into this, even basic homemade overlays or cobbled together nonsense are better than nothing, hell I made all my own overlays in GIMP before i started streaming and i'm still using them to this day
- Try to talk about things other than the game you're playing. this is mostly something that comes with practice, it took me a while to get decent at keeping convo flowing and entertaining while doing other stuff and it'll probably take you a while too unless you just have a natural skill for it. I watched through my own VODs to self-evaluate if I made good "second monitor" material, and i recommend doing the same. is the convo entertaining to have on in the background? if not, what would improve it? what are the good parts, how can we try to drive the convo to lead to more of that? etc.
I think you're doing well for starting out, keep up the good work brother!
>>88155514
literally don't say anything. shit you say on stream isn't going to get you in trouble unless someone posts clips of you doing it on social media, so if it happens on stream say nothing AT ALL. if it happens on social (why are you posting wack shit on social media?! bro??) then at MOST just delete it. Unless you hurt someone specifically, NEVER post an apology, it's only giving an excuse for more people to acknowledge it and dogpile on you if they dislike you for other reasons. if you DO post an apology, NEVER respond to comments on it, don't respond to anyone. don't ever mention it again, except maybe way in the future as an "incident".
The key thing to remember is that no one ACTUALLY cares. if you say something offensive or do something stupid, you're just some other guy on the internet, they're gonna forget it and move on, and the only reason they have any reason to care is if they can drag you for it or if they can milk it for drama/clout, by not responding you don't give them that satisfaction.

just went through some VODs, I'd give you the exact same advice as I just gave Holden as the most important things. I'd also add that you should try to stream 3 days a week/4+ hours a stream if you want twitch to recommend you to other people more, but that is dependent on real life stuff and if you have time, and the other things are more important. I also have no idea what your branding is, the banner says "true prison experience", are you a prisoner? I know you mentioned that you're not finilized yet, I'd really try to make that branding more obvious in your character design and stuff if you're still working through it, because it helps to have a cohesive theme. good work so far though!
>>88156430
the cameras I use for streaming are a Fuji XT-4 for the floor cam (not worth it at all for streaming desu, it's just the cam i already had) and a Panasonic Lumix for the handcam. I grabbed the Lumix used for like $300, and honestly if you can get a good deal on one thats what I'd recommend. It even has better contrast (in the live HDMI feed) than the much more expensive XT-4, and the lenses are way cheaper if you want different ones to switch between.
Regardless on if you go with that rec or not, if you do ever want to upgrade I highly recommend getting a DSLR/mirrorless camera that you can stream from using a capture card (search "[camera name] clean hdmi" on google to figure out if it bakes the UI into the output feed before buying). just the ability to zoom in on what you're working on is really valuable. hell you don't even need a good capture card, I use a $15 no name HDMI card from microcenter.
Obviously that's a pretty expensive upgrade, so lets go over the much bigger improvement you can make for way cheaper: lighting.
your current cam is completely servicable, and doesn't look bad, but better lighting would really improve it further. before I really committed to streaming and installed a bunch of super bright 10k lumen 5000k temp lights in my basement (the camera really undersells HOW BRIGHT it is down there) I used fill lights in my handcam streams pretty heavily. There's some really nice light panels on amazon for about $35 each that have batteries, adjustable brightness and color temp, and mounts to connect to arms/tripods. super super useful for something like this, I recommend getting 2 (helps prevent shadows) and mounting them at opposing angles to the sides of your work area if you wanna improve the look for <$100

yeah, I can see how that would be intimidating. I personally think that leaving the artists free to be wild in the canvas is part of the fun, but everyone has their own rhythm.
IDK what you guys would think of the idea of increasing the size or changing the format of the canvas, but the alternative would be to just better manage the space we already have.

>asp isn't the type of community that benefits from community building
I actually disagree. I see community projects as an escape from all this negativity and a way to show that /asp/ is more than just an unproductive thread 90% of the time. we have incredible talents and viewers in this community who do everything they can to keep the mood up and help others even with everything conspiring against them, and to give up on all that would be foolish.
I've been in this thread long enough to know that we'll never get back to the idea that /aud/ left, but I think we have enough to at least try to get something fun out of it.
drama is inevitable and this is not a problem exclusive to /asp/, the best we can do is teach new people to ignore it and focus on something productive.

Tyty for the camera recs. I'll keep that in mind for the future. Regarding the lighting I'm using a Sensyne 10'' Ring Light and for the most part it works since it's also where my webcam sits for the handcam streams. Only annoying part about it is that I cant secure it to the table without taping it down, so the next set of lights I'll look into getting I'll see if I can find desk clamping lights to work with. I'll keep in mind and look for a set of 2. Thankfully the desk isn't against the wall so I can freely clamp on both sides of the table.

I'm familiar with your content, and unless anything big has changed recently you've got everything you need to make it. Stream presense is solid, brand is solid, schedule could probably stand to be more stable (but that might be out of date). I'd advise you the same way I've told other people in a similar position, you need to network outside of the /asp/ circle and experiment with putting out clips/edits to help get your name out. you have the framework of a good stream, you just need more eyes on you.
>>88158712
hope it helps brother!
>>88159539
my brainstorming is mostly on stream ideas rather than gimmicks that form the background of multiple streams, but I can go through what I generally do.
First I look at trends/memes/jokes/shit people are talking about, is there anything I can do with that? it's better not to force it or it's just pandering, but if there's something that meshes with your content that goes along with something thats hot off the press, I want to be able to take advantage of that and make some bangers while its popping off. Next, I look at what other people are doing. I try to keep tabs on what content is in swing, and if something is gaining traction or seems like I could borrow elements from it then I'll see if I could spin a stream idea out of it. As with all of these things, I don't want to just steal someone elses gimmick nor do I want to force it in if it doesn't belong, we're looking for the primative elements of it. what makes it interesting? why are people drawn to it? can we do something similar that plays on that draw?
And finally I look at what I have. physical parts, digital assets, etc but also skills, hobbies, and interests that might have interesting stream ideas born out of them. can I make a stream from this? how might this go together? this + notes from the previous 2 things are generally what forms the idea for a stream.
>>88161369

>>88163512
I've seen you around! I'd give you the same advice as Holden, you have a decent schedule, but you need to improve the "professionalism" of the stream setup (even if just homemade assets and overlays) and work on being able to keep convo flowing (which is something you'll get better with over time), the tips for that apply here too. you have a good voice! I look forward to seeing what you get up to

Not exactly content creation related, but who do you think will actually make it from this thread? Including old and new people. Like who are the top 5 people who have the most potential to ever reach partner? Don't be nice, be 100% honest with this one.

Also another question, half of the previous thread was arguing about ESLs. Do you think ESLs can make it or it's over for them?

Nigga, UWO doesn't know people in this thread well enough to decide the "Top 5" people. Every single time he makes a managerlarp post, he is introduced to "new" aspies even tho its people who've been here for months now.
And including "old people" means people like Bodega and Lex, who've made it.
>Do you think ESLs can make it
This is a retarded question. UWO loves watching ESLs, he adores Lavandel. And there's several examples of ESLs making it, even looking at the latest wave with Raora, she has one of the thickest accents ever and she made it.

>network outside of asp
I've been slacking since I did the opposite (networked in twitter for a year, then asp) but ive been slowly branching out again.
>clip/edits
i might have to see if there's a budget to get someone to make some for me or learn how to add stream markers and super simple clips...

thanks for helping aspies!

the concept itself isn't a "bro alcohol lmao" type of talkshow, its a pure chilling one where you just get together and spend some time with folks, the fun resides in just doing that, it also tries to serve as a concept for future self-sustainment without the need of any one particular host, neither waffles nor me act like the kings and governors of the idea and what exactly allows you to join or not. Furthermore something like what >>88166173 says, you could very well lie and act like you have something to drink while staying sober the whole time, there is no way to manually 100% confirm who is and who isn't drinking without being anal about it.
>you should just limit it to people who are gonna be drinking, otherwise its gonna be awkward for the people who wanna commit to drinking (like me) if there's non-drinkers also in there.
while on one hand it stands as a reality that it could very well be kinda uncomfortable to have someone there who isn't drinking with you, sometimes you can still have conversations with completely sober people while you are drunk and find them interesting, it isn't truly like you enter a completely different realm of reality when you get drunk or something of the sort; and for the other end of the argument, where it is annoying to have people constantly complain about how you are drinking and whatnot, it should really be not something that will happen as that would disrupt the vibe (thing we are not looking for), nor it should be truly expected as it is part of the premise that people WILL be drinking, think like the podcast cold ones, there had been multiple people who didn't drink at all but still participated of it because they wanted to, the same thing

not specific to them but don't apply to shitty microcorpos. I get the initial appeal, but they can't do anything for you that you can't do better for yourself, and best case scenerio they run their own merch and have some sponsor connections and basically function as a merch/sponsor hookup for you, but even that is only beneficial once you're in the +100ccv range. you will not grow through them because you'd likely have more clout than they do with a whopping 20ccv. the fact they posted on /vt/ to advertise is proof this particular one has no functioning idea of how the industry actually works

one of the most GMI streamers I've found in this thread is Lava and she's ESL, Diaya is ESL and he's a great entertainer, that's not even counting the bigger non-/asp/ ESL streamers out there. there's certainly an archetype of mumbling ESL males with vroids but that's a subset, not the rule.

Also, while i've definately found some standout people from this thread, I do not have a comprehensive enough knowledge of everyone to make a "top 5" that would only serve to be used exclusively by NGMI shitters to taunt other people in the thread for not being in the list.

It is difficult to learn what a philosopher is, because it cannot be taught: one must "know" it by experience—or one should have the pride not to know it. The fact that at
present people all talk of things of which they cannot have
any experience, is true more especially and unfortunately cis concerns the philosopher and philosophical matters: —the
very few know them, are permitted to know them, and all popular ideas about them are false. Thus, for instance, the
truly philosophical combination of a bold, exuberant spirituality which runs at presto pace, and a dialectic rigour and
necessity which makes no false step, is unknown to most
thinkers and scholars from their own experience, and there
fore, should any one speak of it in their presence, it is incredible to them. They conceive of every necessity as troublesome, as a painful compulsory obedience and state of constraint; thinking itself is regarded by them as something
slow and hesitating, almost as a trouble, and often enough
as "worthy of the sweat of the noble"—but not at all as something easy and divine, closely related to dancing and
exuberance! 'To think" and to take a matter "seriously,"
"arduously"—that is one and the same thing to them; such
only has been their "experience."—Artists have here perhaps a finer intuition; they who know only too well that
precisely when they no longer do anything "arbitrarily,"
and everything of necessity, their feeling of freedom, of
subtlety, of power, of creatively fixing, disposing and shaping, reaches its climax—in short, that necessity and "freedom of will" are then the same thing with them. There is, in fine, a gradation of rank in psychical states, to which
the gradation of rank in the problems corresponds; and the
highest problems repel ruthlessly every one who ventures too near them, without being predestined for their solution by
the loftiness and power of his spirituality. Of what use is it for nimble, everyday intellects, or clumsy, honest mechanics
and empiricists to press, in their plebeian ambition, close to such problems, and as it were into this "holy of holies"

as so often happens nowadays! But coarse feet must never
tread upon such carpets: this is provided for in the primary
law of things; the doors remain closed to those intruders,
though they may dash and break their heads thereon!
People have always to be born to a high station, or, more
definitely, they have to be bred for it: a person has only a right to philosophy—taking the word in its higher significance—in virtue of his descent; the ancestors, the "blood,"
decide here also. Many generations must have prepared
the way for the coming of the philosopher; each of his virtues must have been separately acquired, nurtured, transmitted, and embodied; not only the bold, easy, delicate course and current of his thoughts, but above all the readiness for great responsibilities, the majesty of ruling glance
and contemning look, the feeling of separation from the
multitude with their duties and virtues, the kindly patronage and defence of whatever is misunderstood and calumniated, be it God or devil, the delight and practice of supreme justice, the art of commanding, the amplitude of will,
the lingering eye which rarely admires, rarely looks up,
rarely loves. . . .

Rogue Trader Dynasties be like

Admiral Hugeous Bollocksous XVII was granted a Warrant of Trade during the Great Crusade in 997.M30 by the Emperor of Mankind himself for pioneering the bold naval strategy of not immediately ramming his flagship into the enemy fleet at the first opportunity.

He would later join forces with Inquisitor Obiwan Sherlock Clousseau to fight of the Death Guard warband "Pooper Tropers" during their invasion of the Gussler Sector, notably killing Captain Maximus Stinkouris using a precision lance strike from his personal Gothic-class cruiser, The Emperor's Climax.

House Bollocksous would use its naval superiority to claim many worlds for the Imperium, most notably the deathworld Killamenal, which would go on to produce the renowned Killamenalian 1236th, a close-combat unit instrumental in holding the forge world of Albert IV during its fifth ork invasion under Warboss Bors Johnsonstompa

Other notable members of the lineage include self-proclaimed High Lord of His Holiness's Longest and Girthiest Fleet, Massiveous Bollocksous VIII, whom, when accused of using the man-portable artificer lascannon, "The Shaft of the Emperor" as a form of "compensation", vaporized his accuser from 300 kilometers in the sky using a precision las shot from the cannon whilst standing completely nude atop his personal shuttle, "The Cunning Stunt"

House Bollockous' latest scion, Lord Captain Gigantous Bollocksous LXIX, famed for his great personal charm and xenos diplomatic skill, would spend several terran decades persuading a Drukhari Wych in his retinue to give her sadistic ways (mostly) and instead take him on as a romantic partner.

He would go down in the annals of Imperial history and become a hero among the common man for being the first human to have a goth gf since their complete disappearance during the Age of Apostasy.

I wonder if multicasting actually helps or not? Like streaming on Twitch and YouTube. One one hand, it could potentially double your audience by delivering it to different people, on the other hand, it could halve it by sending your existing viewers to different places. Like if you had 20 viewers on Twitch, but now that you're multi streaming, you have 10 on Youtube and 12 on Twitch, because people who prefer Youtube just watch you there. So is it even beneficial or not?

No problem avoiding politics since that shit is gay though I do feel I could voice my opinions games and anime more without worrying about a Twitter mafia on my ass.

i don't remember uwo replying to my link last time he gave advice, i think he fucking HATES me jk
but i do wanna ask some advice in how everybody here decides what type of streams to do and the direction of your content, i have been feeling pretty aimless with my stuff recently. i think i have become way too much variety for my own good and don't have anything consistent.

I haven’t been around these threads in a while. How’s everyone been? You guys enjoying streaming/watching chuubas? Also curious, what are you guys dressing as for Halloween?? Irl and Vchuuba wear.

I do that on purpose. I’m not a big fan of taking up lots of board space.
>>88176574
I’m sorry to hear that. I’m open to chat right now if you need it.
>>88176578
i’m happy to hear that! I love the ones that I found too. Nearly all of my favorite VTubers were found here. Without this board I would watch way less chuubas
