Might as well ask, whats the best course of action. The CLI trader is functional and working quite well with the dying server. The average cd is below 10min 6s. It currently contains a lot of debugging information i.e not user friendly. Should i wait and test it more or do you want something vaguely usable ?
Also the trader makes no retries, if a transaction fails you have to wait the full cd. Failed transactions are extremely unlike due to some magic. The only think it doesnt check is the coin count and balance.
Would distribute the rust source code after some cleanup, you have to build it yourself.

Devchama here, alright, since the issue has pretty much blown up in these past few days I'm going to summarize what is going on and keep you guys in the loop. Long story short, haaton sheet is doing a lot of damage currently and something WILL have to change in order for us to move forwards. I'll be mirroring this post on the floor using my Nasfaq Dev Account.

While we have seen an uptick in tourists lately they have not been the primary contributors to the problems we're facing, at least as far as we can tell.
So, what's the big issue with the haatonsheet and other Google Sheets based solutions:
1. The biggest and main issue with these are that they spam requests to the server.

Yes and no. Apparently it's been updated so it doesn't spam buy/sell requests anymore, but it still remains true that we still see an inordinate amount of history requests and leaderboard requests in addition to wallet and market info requests. During the time that the server was on fire we saw hundreds of requests from Google IPs.

I've censored IPs of unrelated people and also removed user sessions and ids for the sake of their privacy but here are some snippets of our server debug messages. Every single one of those 107 and 35 IPs is a fucking Google IP. Look them up yourself if you don't believe me. Note these are mere snippets, this shit went on for fucking miles. This isn't on the level we can accept anymore. Sure, it's convenient for you maybe but for everyone else you're just a fucking nuisance and guess what, you spam is making it worse for yourself as well since you're missing cycles. Great job anon. Outdone yourself there. I know the creators of sheets write these with the best of intentions, hell I'm thankful that haatonsheetwriter is actually taking the time to update his sheet so that it's less spammy but because you guys cannot use the websocket your sheets are sending far too many requests and the server is dying trying to keep up. We're working on rewrites to make practically everything more efficient but the arms race is always in the favor of the bogging the server as the volume of data you're requesting is frankly impossible to keep up with.
2. Old versions of the haatonsheet and other such sheets are still out there and still spamming our servers with failed requests. I'm talking in the hundreds of thousands per user range. While that has decreased and we haven't had to wave the banhammer around as often as before it's still unacceptable.

Yeah but the zhonkbot autoupdates when it is refreshed unlike the haatontrader and not only that, only runs when the computer is on thus meaning that most users will likely get their hands on the updated version. The haatonsheet can run INDEFINITELY without player input and potentially never be updated. That's unacceptable. When we set down guidelines for bots we made it clear that it was because they were impossible to distinguish (at that point) from human traders we wouldn't be able to rule to harshly on them. Well, clearly that hasn't been the case as of late.
3. It is an unfair advantage over players who are trying not to bog the server. We have many players here who are quite kindly trying their hardest not to bog the server using the latest official zhonkbot, playing manually at times and having fun shitposting on the thread. It's unfair for me to tell them that yeah, they just have to put up with constant server bogs that SHOULD be completely avoidable. I don't want this game to become tedious for them just because certain others are using unofficial and unsanctioned code.
Now, what are we doing about it?
- As I said we're rewriting several pieces of key infrastructure in order to make them more efficient
- We're going to be implementing anon's idea of creating an API that allows multiple different coins to be transacted in 1 request, reducing server load somewhat.
- We're going to be taking a stance regarding external autotraders. More info on that Soon™.

Yeah, and server capacity was able to take care of it because 1. not as many people were using it, 2. because the amount of data that is getting transferred was lower and 3. there were less players overall. We've basically hit critical mass at this point. Because of the sheer amount of transactions we're processing now, >Market Closed is becoming a real chore for the server, and, with the additional load of these sheets requesting data and whatnot on top, it's grinding to a halt. We can rewrite many parts of the code to help this but like I said, no matter how much we try, data volume is data volume and eventually it's gonna grind the server to a halt.

Look, the manual clicking was fun 4/5 months ago because I was just using the game for my multitask and I was still a poorfag that time. Just needed to empty my liquid before the adjustment times before we meltdown over the adjustments.
When the zhonkbot came up, I was thankful for it since I could finally do auto-trading without having to click everytime but it was also that time that I had so much liquids that I needed to not turn off my PC most of the time for 3 months, heck getting to turn off my PC was such a rare occasion at that time, there's also the fact that you can only do ONE transaction per time which really requires you more to not turn your PC off at all, but that cannot be helped as there was no other ways to do trading and I didn't want to miss a day of wasted liquids.
Then I finally decided to use the Haatonsheet last week, you don't know how much of a godsend it was to me, I'm really thankful for that Haaton who was putting up with everyone while updating it. It was such a great thing to happen because it works even when your PC is turned off. I am not gonna ditch that spreadsheet yet.

tl;dr Haatonsheet is a godsend and that you really should consider having an ingame auto-trader that works fucking offline and consider at least having 2 coins per transaction and most of all that I'm not going to quit using the spreadsheet anytime soon. I put up with 3 months, at least let me use the Haaton spreadsheet for a week or a month

Devchama here, we are considering re-writing the in-house scheduled trader that would've been and changing it to a system quite close to the old cyclical broker. I.E. everyone still gets to play with real time data, however, if you choose to use the scheduled autotrader you'll be locked into the cycles. These things aren't really 'offline', they're running on Google's very much online cloud servers. Google is just giving that miniscule amount of computing and internet access away for free to individuals.
Ironically this very problem is happening precisely because haatondev shared it to users who have no idea the sheet is even capable of doing this, and who will not take responsibility for it. If only a few people were using their own shit and it fucked up the server, there wouldn't be this much hand-wringing over it, they'll just be muted or banned instantly with the approval of the community because there's no one else responsible for it.

Obviously there are features like buy to x price or whatever, but there's no way to control or detect that sort of thing. It's like trying to ban people from playing FPSes with blutac on their screen, it's out of the server's control to recognize it or do anything.
If the scripts are coded properly, they should be indistinguishable from the normal behavior of the zhonkbot. The rules are the same for all of them. You get one trade per coin every ten minutes.
Again, that's if the scripts are running properly. If they're doing shit like spamming dozens of retries on failure then they're clearly distinguishable and should be blocked.

Item market and gacha is one, there was the scheduled trade thing that kinda faded and is now being potentially revived. There's also a crapton of optimization work that we did. Several major sections of code were re-written in order to catch up with the userbase's usage of the website.

On a different note, yes, >node but as it turns out our main bottlenecks are I/O rather than the code itself so we'll probably keep pushing off rewrites like that until it proves to be absolutely necessary.

That said, there's a thing i can't agree on, you said the main reason or one of the reasons you won't implement multicoin trading is because of newer players, i can see where you're coming from but shouldn't the "older" players be the focus? If having too much liquid is the problem, there are far better solutions than multicoin trading(which, quite frankly, isn't a solution at all). The item auctions and the gacha system are steps in the right direction. Introducing a player run market in the game in the form of item auctions will do an excellent job of wealth redistribution.

I still think scheduled wipes should be on the cards. you can go seasonal and every 3 months everything goes back to 0 and top 50 and oshiboard members get archived in a seasonal hall of fame, or you could make it that every month the top 10 get wiped and have a little crown on their profile to show how many times theyve made it to the top. It seems brutal but if its just part of the game, then people will adjust.

It's not really comparable. That split was an undeniable very large influx of newer people etc etc. The current one is just a standard thing and it WILL happen everytime there is a new EN because people want to be dramawhores and generalfags want to break things up into their little clubhouses as much as they can possible. The biggest reason why splitting because of en2 is retarded is that en2 has generated effectively fuck all new people to hololive unlike en1 did. There isn't really a surge of that many new people as it is that people are just posting more because there is something big to talk about.
