There is a ton of overreacting but I think a lot of the sadness comes from the fact that Ame isn't going to be in the trenches anymore, talking on discord, collabing and doing projects with the other talents, which means she's probably gonna drift apart from a lot of them that she's not extremely close with. Myth was very sentimental and nostalgic for a lot of people, they were underdogs as the first English vtuber gen and exploded onto the scene at the exact right time. A lot of fans have fond memories of Myth getting them through hard times during covid lockdowns and the generally awful year that was 2020 and because they were the only EN gen they felt like a team and if you were a Myth fan you probably watched everyone at the very least in collabs.
A lot of us aren't necessarily sad for Amelia Watson the character or the person, she was clearly burnt out for a while and is ready to move on. We're sad for the end of an era and the end of Myth as the original 5 who went through so much adversity and triumph together and helped us through tough times.
Hell I was a huge HoloFantasy fan and I'm still sad about Rushia when I go back and watch older Fantasy content even though as time goes on it becomes more and more clear that she was an awful person and the termination was necessary. There was just something special about that original five and the dynamics between them that will never be quite the same without her.

Kiara and moona is a great combo, they are probably some of the best stage performers from their respective branches, (I remember everyone kneeling for them during link your wish, I think?)
Reine is just the cutest dorkiest bird I could think of that isn’t orange coloured, also super sexy simply the GOAT also should have Backstage sex with Kiara
Similar things can be said about nerissa, absolutely a cutie patootie
It’s cool to see risu in there, but I hope they have a big enough talking segment because I especially like her yapping and banter

It's true and I also think a lot of newer vtuber fans and especially non-hololive fans miss the forest for the trees sometimes. It's just about the person, like yes we can totally go watch Ame on whatever her new channel is, just like we could go watch K-son. But the main appeal of corpo vtubers, and hololive in particular, that makes the restrictions worth it, is that sense of family and comradery that comes with "idol culture." Maybe it's artificial to an extent, but it's not just as simple as >holodrones oshi is the blue dorito kek. The gen structure and the tight knitness adds so many fun dynamics. It's nijisanji's downfall, and they'll say "you're not supposed to know everyone you just watch who you like" but that's a problem. The magic of Hololive is those interactions between the different girls and different branches, the unexpected friendships, the international collaborations, the company wide events like Fes. It's what made GTA so great. When someone graduates, it's like a family member leaving, even if she isn't your oshi. It leaves an absence that will probably be felt in small ways no matter who your oshi is, and even though the diehards will still keep watching her, even then something is missing when she's removed from context and flying solo rather than part of a team and able to interact with all the other girls. Coco's brilliance was her contrast and dynamics with the rest of the branch, without anything to contrast against K-son will never be Coco she's just another twitch vtuber.
A big part of the culture that's been lost in recent years was that kind of atmosphere where a rising tide raises all boats and we could all celebrate one girl or another reaching a milestone or having a big event even if we didn't watch her much because she's part of the family and friends with the girls we do watch.
