That's the main thing that makes demographics questions so tricky and worrying for the majority of developed and developing nations, the need to support elderly members of society when there are more elderly than there are peak working condition adults, without sacrificing childcare capacity to fulfill elder care capacity (and thus making the spiral worse as incentives make it harder to have kids).
Bit of a toughie to figure out, but with a small dash of luck and some government action it should be avoidable if your country has a bigger inflow of people than outflow, and then it would take more luck if you don't have that.
Shouldn't be a "societal collapse" problem (unless the demo picture is REALLY fucking bad like what Russia and Ukraine are looking at), just that your society is probably gonna have some Japan years for a decade or two before things balance out.
