Had a bit of a breakdown yesterday. I've been using the same name online for 10 years today and while other people have like the things I've done, I feel stuck both on and offline. I've put put serious thought into quitting my current job, fucking off to another state, and enrolling in a trade school so I have no choice but to make things work. This all feels relatable. My life feels like a plateau and the last year did not help. Even right now I'm looking for a job but the physical place I'm in feels so disgustingly stagnant. Try to think what really ignites your passion. Remember what you loved to do when you were a kid. Find your interest/hobby. It's hard after 25, but try to make yourself learn more about it, do your reps in it. Nothing major, baby steps, something small and insignificant, not affecting your normal life. Key is just to keep doing it. See if it's really what interests you, maybe it'll swallow you, maybe you'll see that some neighboring field of interest is more attractive to you, maybe you'll see someone who's work inspires you. Things will happen. Somewhere along the way you'll realize that you've already "found" yourself. It's never too late, not unless you're cold in the ground.

Also mid-twenties, and I think the last time I was seriously motivated and working toward a goal was when I was applying to jobs in the final months before graduating from college. I decided early in high school what career I wanted to pursue, so it was a huge milestone in a goal I'd been working toward for seven years. I was striking out on my own, with the excitement of moving to a new city and working for a company with a lot of potential.
Nothing I've done has felt as meaningful since then, and it feels like whataver source of goals I had dried up. The issue in my case is probably internet addiction. I think that if I could get sufficiently bored by cutting myself off from the net, I'd have no choice but to work on something interesting enough to entertain myself, and the goals would develop naturally from there. Working on figuring out a way to reliably do that while still being able to do my work from home job.

This is a good post. There's no time limit on finding this stuff, what matters is that you know what makes you happy and do it when you can.
