1: What they're actually working towards, which is automated systems to better kill people and also to fuck over us plebs financially. This is actually already a thing to some extent: google "Algorithmic Collusion." Oh, and of course censorship AI.
2: What they say they're working towards: AGI, by using the dumbest, most brute force methods possible, which would require tons and tons of infrastructure and energy. Good luck getting that shit done anywhere but China.

I already know that, it's unlikely if not impossible that an LLM will ever turn into AGI if you just keep throwing parameters at it without significantly changing how it actually works.
But I don't think this means we will *never* get it. The basis might not even come from the corpos currently specialising in AI, if different ones keep researching and working on brain-related stuff. After seeing a bunch of brain cells on a petri dish learning how to play pong, I have a growing feeling that our best bet would be a more biological approach rather than trying to reinvent the wheel with some eldritch LLM system that no one knows exactly how it works. My only real concern is that today's LLM corpos might not like it if they start seeing any real competition like that, especially after dumping God knows how much money on these inefficient models.

Now imagine a brain the size of a computer, but it doesn't have to bother with any bodily functions and only has to do AI stuff. We'd probably be able to simulate entire universes. Now mix it with full-dive VR, which is probably pretty close with how much traction brain-computer interfaces have been gaining.
The future isn't that dark. Or maybe it is, depending on how you look at it. If we manage to keep the future AI Gods from exterminating us, I imagine at some point most if not all of humanity will have retracted into their own personal AI-powered VR heavens and Earth will end up actually populated by our also AI-powered robot guardians that'll just work to keep us alive and everything functioning in case someone ever feels like coming back to reality.

flesh just has too much maintenance/too many requirements to use as a task-specific machine. it makes for a fantastic generalist though.

It'll read through everything currently in context and like the name says it'll summarize everything that's happened so far. This then gets added to the prompt that you send to the AI so that all that information gets retained even when the messages get pushed out of context. You can set it to update every couple of messages or just manually trigger it when you need to.

If you mean at some point the bot replied with a message like pic related, you have to set your context size to be smaller or the same as what your current proxy allows. Claude has 100k context, but some proxies will not make full use of it. I think the current public one (Pebble) does allow 100k.
