LARP comes from Live Action Role Play, it's an actual hobby in which people meet up in real life and, well, roleplay. Mostly medieval knight stuff.

In the context of 4chan, a larper is someone who wants people to think he/she is something they are actually not.

I have thousands of hours behind fps games and im actually pretty decent, but I know there are already alot of vtubers who stream those games and its pretty saturated.

I dont really think what I like or dislike is very relevant, its about catering to the audience and what they want, giving the best entertainment possible. I am willing to try anything really, and do my best to make it an enjoyable experience.

You have to keep in mind that the audience cannot control the camera, and thus will never have a solid updated mental map of the world, which is needed to really enjoy the game. I have a couple of years of streaming experience, and went through a period when I streamed the same game for 6-12 hours every day for about 7 months. I think Im pretty resistant to burnout after doing that, so am not too worried.

You've come at a particularly bad time regarding this, but there are two different answers to your question.

1. They aren't talking about girls having boyfriends, they're talking about girls EVER having HAD boyfriends. Many guys watching vtubers have never had a real relationship before and expect any girl they invest their time and money into to be the same.

2. You may be overwhelmed now, but what about in a year? Two years? You'll get used to being a vtuber at some point, and can you really say for sure you'll be able to go without a boyfriend for the rest of your professional career?

It's a huge gray area and depends on what you present yourself as. There is a level of trust audiences invest in the people they watch - akin to a relationship - far, far lower than the level of 'acquaintance', but it is a relationship nonetheless. The perception of being manipulated - unknowingly and not in good faith - is the biggest no-no between any entertainer and their audience, virtual or not.

For example, some vtubers tell their audiences they are lonely, and talk about this often, so if it comes out that they have a boyfriend, the trust in the streamer is completely lost - if they lied about that, what else did they lie about? It is particularly harsh in cases where the streamer seems to share nearly everything in their life with the audience - and then it turns out there is this entire important half that they are keeping under wraps. It is not a matter of wanting to date the streamer - the audience feels deceived and betrayed, akin to if Mr. Rogers was caught snorting heroin.

The nature of streaming, the hundreds of hours that will be spent with a dedicated core audience, and the amount of personal anecdotes that will be dispensed, means that it is extremely difficult to dodge this impression of being betrayed. The audience, rightly or not, tends towards wanting to know every aspect of the person they're watching. It can be pre-emptively and carefully prepared for, such as what Tamaki did, or it can just be out there in the open, like how some twitch streamers talk about how they're planning to go out on a date, then later on how the date went, whether they think there'll be a second one...It's all in one's ever-changing relationship to their audience, and there's no handbook for that (yet).

I think asking for ideas is reasonable, but don't expect to learn what kind of vtuber you should be (though you need to be active to become successful, see below); demand is at best at 4th place of your priority list. If you don't like real time strategy, grand strategy, or simulators, you should not play them. You should not focus on playing games in the first place if that's not what you wish to do primarily.
How you are doing it is more important than what you are doing. There is a reason Minecraft and APEX are so popular among vtubers that it's clearly oversaturated, yet some vtubers (even Holos) are fairly successful that way.
With that out of the way, imho you need to do two things: firstly, be someone with a goal others can watch you achieve, such as learning to sing better, collabing with other chuubas, or who wants to be very good in a game. The classical live streamer does something like this by setting sub goals or marathoning a game, or practizing something competitive, and you even see Holomem debuting with goals and having their personal arcs with games or making songs.
Secondly, engage with every positive thing your fans do. Talk to them in chat when you can. Respond on Twitter or retweet stuff. Engage with other vtubers who suit you (within your sphere of popularity and interests of course).
The only way you will get non-random viewers is through clout and word of mouth, and being obnoxiously stubborn in becoming an interesting vtuber. But what do I know, I barely leave /hlgg/.

I mean it would be a case by case basis of what your talents and tastes are, a strong personality can carry weak tastes or stuff outside of what 'people want' but it's a hit or miss. Pandering is good if you can carry a discussion or humour the audience etc. to make the stream interesting/interactive. I think the more important question would be, what would you genuinely (to an extent, obviously) enjoy streaming, because people will say they like something but really what people want is only half as important as you might think. Excecution is no. 1.

If you know what you're doing you can make mundane garbage seem incredibly interesting in the context of a stream, people are watching the stream for YOU, not the game. So if how you approach something is uninteresting to the audience/trying too hard, nothing you do will work. Additionally, exposure seems incredibly hard to get in an extremely saturated market like this. Do any femoids itt have any pointers on this, it seems if you aren't with an agency you'll just end up like any male newbie twitch streamer unless you have some kind of exposure event where people can see your stream and actuallly click on the fucking link.
