For newfriends / fa/tg/uys: this is Chronicles of Darkness (CofD) homebrew being played by the fabulous ladies of Hololive English, running under the Hunter: the Vigil module. As most of the players are new to the world of tabletop RPGs, this campaign is being played as more of learning experience, with fun and entertainment the primary goals.

What I hope to see happen next session is for Calli to lay out a list of rolls used in social situations, then tell the group "think of how and when to use these while schmoozing up at the party". Give the girls some choice on how to approach the mission.

I'm not even going to try and discuss stealth, not with this party setup. None of them have a single point, and only Watoto has any investment in the rogue/thief skills.

Some stuff to think about and discuss:

Athletics and dexterity seem to be too prominently featured in any physical action. I don’t know if this is Calli’s inexperience or just how the game is structured, but Strength and Dexterity could be used in equal proportion with one another. Example, climbing the Hedge should clearly require Strength, not Dex. Meanwhile Stamina is almost NEVER used. WoD veterans, give me the skinny on how useful (or not) some stats are, I’m genuinely curious.

LUCK DICE
Calli has been a little inconsistent regarding her luck die mechanic. Here’s what I’ve observed:
-Calli’s system for the luck die: 0 or negative dice invokes a single special d10. Player MUST roll a 10 or suffer a failure.
-Sometimes players only have 1 die to roll. Example: Watoto trying to climb the Hedge was dexterity + athletics. 2 dex and -1 athletics means 1 die. This should just be a normal success, but she treated this as a luck die. Result: Watoto actually rolled a 9 on this attempt, but Calli gave him a half-success since it was a high roll, when in fact this should have been a solid success. When a luck die is utilized requires some clarification.

Watoto will be dressed in the standard penguin tux, but the pants will be tight black shorts for no discernible reason.
Scout will have a heavy, restrictive, turbo-conservative dress that shows no flesh, not even her neck.
Tiara will ask for traditional garb of her nation. The contact will give her something absurdly anachronistic and out of place.
The only garb that will fit Yuul will be an obscenely lewd, revealing black dress that will cause Ina to blush. All social rolls will be boosted while wearing it.

I'm of the mind that some wiggle room should be available. 8+ for pure success is a little on the tough side, but I agree with it. A few times the girls have rolled all 6's and 7's out of 4-5 dice (see Tiara's failed bird talk attempt on the Hedge). A roll like that should be an "almost success", with a small beneficial result, but not an utter failure. It would help offset the hard success / fail that accompanies most TT. I've never been too keen on systems where the outcome is complete success or YOU FUCKED UP, TAKE 4 AGGRO DMG.

As for the flubbed rolls, yes that needs to be addressed. Once or twice Calli went over / under dice count in the tutorials, but that happens. In the main campaign she CANNOT be making those mistakes, but the responsibility cuts both ways. The players need to be a little more insistent on contesting perceived mistakes or oversights. So far only Kiara has been the one to offer any resistance; Ina's too timid, Gura's too drunk, and Ame dunno wtf. In the end they need to know the GM's not a despot; issuing a challenge is part of the game.

Now, about that Malkavian ball. I'm willing to assume that Mori had one of her STs put her character through one (or she read about it, most likely) and that experience stuck to her, which is why she's giving a redux version on her game. Is she gonna go for the interpretation of grunge-y vamps with a bit of a more subdued madness to them, or is she gonna give them the eerie jokster/prankster side of a Malkavian? I predict she'll go for both, as that would put the players through a loop, but for simplicity sake I'm leaning towards the more serious and somber view of them.

Sorry for the late reply on this one. Like I said for the other guy last thread you used a Mortal Remains (2e Sort of It's complicated) sheet, but statted them up in a mix of 1e and 2e rules. It's not massively a problem but does present some weirdness. So some of this you will have read.

Your Vice/Virtue are fine for both, but in 2e you don't have to stick to Christian morality. Almost anything can be a Vice or Virtue and the same thing might be a Vice on one person but a Virtue on another (see attached). So you get more room to have them be expressive and part of your characters more fully.

The concept is interesting, and I appreciate that you went and typed up a backstory for them. I think you could probably benefit from going back over your stats to have that better line up with some of your stuff there. There isn't strictly an issue with having stats the narrative doesn't justify but as it's a narrative focused game I do think it's worth considering. The major example on your sheet is you've got the Occult Skill of an expert, but the justification for 2 dots as they're just someone who's well-researched. Same deal with the Athletics, your raw skill there rivals most NHL players. So stuff like dropping a dot in Occult for a dot in Computers, as you've clearly spent a lot of time with those. Again though, isn't anything wrong with the current set up. I'd just be re-arranging things if it were my character, but it ain't. So the advice above only matters if you agree with it. Although if you did agree with it I would also be swapping around the categories a bit too. All depends on the style of game you're playing.

Your Profession is actually a very interesting thing. Professions aren't actually what you do, they're who you are. 2e is unfortunately not going to have the breadth of info on Professions that 1e had but simply put a Profession is a representation of your primary interests and who you are at the core of your being. A soldier is still a soldier even if they're not on tour, and the academic is still an academic even if they got fired for using university resources on occult mysteries. Academic, Athlete, and Occultist would all fit for this character depending on how you'd like to spin it. I'll grab the descriptions of that stuff and add them in a follow-up. Either way you still need to mark your Asset Skills, which would be Athletics and Medicine by default for an Athlete. Although you are free to change those. You have taken the 4th Speciality already. In 2e you instead gain the Professional Training Merit for free at 1 dot which is the same bar the free Specialty, and instead you get two dots of the Contacts Merit relating to that Profession.

Your Merits are mostly fine for 1e, although a little too focused on the hockey side of things given their pretty major narrative focus on the occult bits. You took Boxing and then also Body Blow but Boxing 1 IS Body Blow. So you've actually only spent 6 dots there. Iron Stomach feels like something you sort of just picked to fill up points. So maybe swap that out for something, you could probably do with Language (Russian) for 1 dot, grab another dot in boxing. Stuff like that. For 2e you'd want to redo the whole set, and I reckon you'd end up with a more fun selection there.

For 2e you should have 3 Aspirations (see attached) and 1 Touchstone at Integrity 6 (see attached).

Nah, it's a mix of 2e rules but it's using some 1e alt rules. Three Alone, which collapses Attributes into their respective columns, and Three Plus which does the same for Skills. It works mostly like you'd expect, the only caveat is the Attribute marked with a dot gives you an extra dice when used with a Skill from the same category. 2e sheets look like 1e ones with just a couple of tweaks really.

I'll never really understand GMs who take that approach. It sort of just ignores that the game is RP focused in the first place. Dice should only be rolled when the outcome of an action is uncertain, there isn't really an RP way to handle uncertainty well than the GM just choosing what happens. Those are part of the Werewolf: the Forsaken template. In Chronicles of Darkness, each splat (book series, such as Vampire: the Requiem, Werewolf: the Forsaken, Mage: the Awakening, Hunter: the Vigil, etc) has their own template that it's added on top of the Mortal sheet, the one I posted on the left. Each one adds their own specific variants and new mechanics related to what they do.
Blood and Bone are the Forsaken versions of Virtue and Vice, Blood is how the character display themselves when they're hunting, the claws are out and lives are on the line, while Bone is how their self identity is displayed, underneath the fury and fangs when things are calm and safe.
Auspice is the moon phase in which the werewolf went through their first change, it determines their role and overall disposition in the world, and deviating too much from it is frowned upon by others. Mechanically speaking, it determines the bonuses to specific skills that are related to that role, and what is your first Renown, which I'll explain later. Rahu is the Full Moon, making wolfbros who are amazing warriors but not dumb brutes, they must also be masterful tacticians and defenders, since that Moon auspices Brawl, Intimidation, and Survival, and their Renown is Purity.
Tribe is your spiritual family/club/association, this one you character has a choice of affiliating or become a Ghost Wolf who has no tribe. Each tribe has a Sacred Prey (specific targets that are a threat to the balance) and an Oath, pretty self-explanatory. It determines your character's Gifts and Rites, plus the tribe's Renown. Iron Masters are known for acceptance of change and adaptation, and are more prone to messing with technology and the changes it made to humans, compared to the other tribes. Their Sacred Prey are humans who mess with others, such as killers and the few nasty supernaturals like vamps and mages, and their Oath is to honor their territory, which involves making it a better place that happens to involve hunting humans who mess with it as well. Their Renown is Cunning.
Renown is the demonstration of a werewolf's accomplishments in life, such a powerful thing that it affects how others see them, since your character is marked with visible runes displaying (when transformed) how many achievements they went through, and mechanically it tells you how your character gets bonuses in certain rolls and unlocks Gifts when you reach a specific Renown level.
Kuruth translates to Death Rage, which is in a state where the werewolf is so overcharged with blind fury that it'll make it hurt anyone in their path, friend or foe, full berserker rampage so powerful that it can even make other werewolves get in Death Rage as well, or run the risk of getting sliced and diced. First it comes as Soft Rage where the werewolf still has some time to control themselves and find a safe spot to unleash, and can avoid going berserk with good rolls, while Hard Rage is the complete loss of control and shit hits the fan. Triggers are what can make your character be more susceptible to get in Soft Rage, but they can avoid it if their Harmony (the Forsaken version of Morality/Integrity) is well-balanced.
Totem is what defines your pack, becoming such an important asset that the players all must pitch in ideas and concepts to better define it, since it will affect their characters and NPCs covered by it with bonuses and objectives that must be covered to gain its blessings. Gifts are your character's powers, pretty much, Moon Gifts originate from their Auspice, Shadow are from spirits and Wolf are from within.

Not them, but Dhampirs in 2e are legit some of the coolest things in CofD. Every aspect of them is just dripping with flavour and hooks, their powers are super flavourful but also fairly weak and cheap so you get a lot of use out of them, they're just a blast all around. You do have to be someone careful about how you go mixing templates though. You don't need to bring in the whole of vampire to support them either, they function outside of the Danse Macabre pretty well. I'd just read through their section in Half-Damned and decide if you think they'd be a fun inclusion.

Don't mention it, and don't worry about asking questions. Like ask as many as you want. I'm happy to talk about the game. In core CofD rules there is no real benefit to it at all, low is always bad. Hunter changes that up a little though. High Integrity has 2 general benefits for CofD, and then a couple more in HtV2e. It's first benefit is that high Integrity grants a bonus to Breaking Point rolls, theses are things that make you lose Integrity. So the more you have the easier it is to keep, and inversely low Integrity imposes penalties. Succeed or failing a Breaking Point effects you the same, out side of failure meaning you lose a dot of Integrity. You gain one of three annoying but not awful Conditions, but it's the dramatic failures that are the really big deal for this. When your dice pool is lowered to below 1 dice, you roll a "chance die" instead. This has a 10% chance of a success, and 80% chance of a failure, and a 10% chance of a dramatic failure. A particularly traumatic event for a low Integrity character can be hitting -6 or -7 dice, which is typically enough to make you roll a chance die. Which means a 10% chance you'll gain a really debilitating Persistent Condition that could potentially get you killed as it can outright cripple you. So, high Integrity means less bad stuff to worry about.

The other one is that it grants bonuses to Abjuration as well as Warding and Binding attempts. Both of these things are vital tools in dealing with Ephemeral Entities, if you're going up against a spirit with low integrity you're not going to have a fun time. It can be a +3 bonus for 10 Integrity, down to a -5 for 1 Integrity.

For Hunter it's more of a big deal. Firstly there is "The Code" a set of beliefs a Hunter places value in that determines their Breaking Points. When they have high Integrity they have more Breaking Points to deal with, as they lose Integrity they lose some of them. They're split into high/mid/low tiers. So a high Integrity Hunter would face a Breaking Point for causing significant harm to a person, at mid they'd have to kill a person, and low they just don't care and have to torture a person before it effects them. Breaking Points at lower tiers are harder to resist though.

Next up as you grow more callous though Integrity loss you gain Vigilant as a Persistent Condition when you hit the mid tier. It means you have to spend Willpower to avoid looking into potential supernatural dangers, it makes you jumpy and easily Spooked (a Condition) as you're always looking over your shoulder, but it lets Virtues (your best trait) grant Willpower in excess of your total and it grants a Beat when you alienate a normal person because of the Vigil. If it drops further and you become more withdrawn you instead become Merciless. Works basically the same except now its your Vices (your worst) that let you exceed maximum Willpower, and you can get a Beat from alienating other Hunters too. If your Integrity drops so low that it hits 0, you become a Slasher. A deranged killer that's a monster all of their own, at this point you hand your sheet to the GM and make a new character. Slasher's like this can be redeemed but it's hard work

Integrity is also tied into Touchstones, these are people/objects/places that keep your character grounded. The Vigil is dangerous work that requires separation from who you protect, Touchstones help you keep your feet on the ground. Touchstones get "attached" to specific dots of Integrity, if you are currently attached to a Touchstone it provides a bonus against Breaking Points. If you lose the dot of Integrity that Touchstone is attached to, you become detached form them and if you have no attached Touchstone you gain a penalty instead. there is a little more too them as well, but that's how it works for Integrity.

Then you've got some little bits here and there, like one of the special Hunter power sets is modified by it, and a few other bits. So it's not a massive deal in CofD, is important in Hunter, but it's not likely to come up at all because that's 2e rules they almost certainly haven't read.

I've digest it, I think. So, from my understandings you should rly aim to stay as high as possible. But after seeing the list of breaking points I suppose hunters often, if not usually, fall into "middling integrity" category cause of stuff they to as a hunters.

But maybe if would be benefitial for the whole group, or the whole cell (idk the names of hierarchy levels, but you get what I mean) if you have one or two "bad guy" to do dirty work for you ir you need to torture for infortaion or somthing like that. And maybe you could somehow keep them on a leash by something so they don't go totally insane.
