I used to be more social in my 20's, started focusing on life more in my 30's, now in my 40's and can confirm no friends. I know people and communicate but wouldn't call them friends, just peers and associations.

I’ve heard a few Holochuubas also say they don’t have friends, and I don’t get why they say this shit. I’m aware that not everyone in Hololive probably likes each other, but they all have at least a couple of friends. Korone especially, Okayu is an obvious answer, but there are plenty of stories of Korone being friends off stream with some of the others.

Normally when people say they don't have friends it's because they get self-conscious when talking about it and raise their standard of what they consider friends and not close acquaintances. Nearly everyone probably has people who might call them out for a drink, invite them to parties, and whatnot, but someone to confide in and who might unconditionally and spontaneously lend you a hand in tough times is another thing.

I've seen some of the things her roommate has gotten up to. I don't buy that she doesn't have any friends.

>> No.8314586

I really don't get why she says things like this sometimes. Like her relationship with Okayu, one day they're supposedly all over each other, the other they pedal back,
then Korone says Okayu is a deep friendship, then says she has no friends and confides in her public more (that what she said about telling her mother was in a bad situation in the hospital).
I don't know what's going on. I can't believe either she's trying to decieve the audience since she says all of this in the same channel and streams in the same character, unless she's banking that no one watches all her streams.

This
Chuubas say they are lonely but once you check their roommates they are atleast in touch with colleagues if their same clique.
Is hard to find a truly loleny mid popular streamer.

Korone lies for comedy's sake. Like when she said she never played an RPG before to get chat off her back and then gets reminded of all the RPGs she played on stream. It's a boke-tsukkomi act.

Theres also just getting older having your real freinds die, get married, or grow apart. Then its an utter bitch to make new freinds you actually like and relate to. Youll have an assload of aquaintences and coworkers but freindship is gone.

It could be true depending on Korone's definition of friend I suppose. She's clearly close enough to a lot of her Hololive peers that I'm not sure "acquaintance" is strong enough of a word to do it justice, but if she never meets up with them IRL then I can see why she wouldn't call them friends. But she seems fairly well-adjusted and reasonably socialable so her not having any IRL friends seems farfetch'd.

I think I'd side with she's lying. This wouldn't be the first time a chuuba pretended to leak something but it was actually a lie to make them more relatable/desirable; i.e. when Rushia pretended to leak that she's 20.

>> No.8331954

>>8323558
No, I think it's pretty plausible for vtubers not be able to maintain a decent circle of friends after settling into the job. She can't easily talk and empathize about salaryman life with her university friends because she just doesn't have any of those experiences. Heck, she can't even talk about her own life and work too much because it can put her in danger or at the least inconvenience her if a 'friend' doesn't see the big deal and leaks it or is loose-lipped when talking to others.
Also, people already complain that having night shifts destroy their social life - but Korone's life is nothing BUT night shifts. Her free time is in the day when all the normal people are working, and her work hours are primarily in the evening when you would otherwise be at social gatherings as an adult. Basically the only time she can possibly have reliably for others is a small window of time from late morning to dinnertime in the weekend, and that's hell to schedule around. Even during the afternoons there're probably meetings, collab organization, thumbnail preparation and whatnot to do regardless of whether it's the weekday or not. It also gels with why she does kickboxing and shit, if you have nothing to do during the day you might as well.

Keep in mind that acquaintances ≠ friends. Most cultures distinguish between the two.
