- 2 pie crusts
- 6-7 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon sugar (for sprinkling)

Preheat oven to 425°F.
Mix apple slices with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
Place one pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. Fill with the apple mixture and dot with butter.
Cover with the second crust, trim excess, and crimp edges. Cut slits in the top for steam.
