Its immersion breaking. Everyone knows korone isn't a dog, middle earth isn't a place and that Wizard school doesn't exist.
For the sake of entertainment we are willing to put that behind us and suspend disbelief. The problem happens when the tuber is inconsistent.
Nothing breaks immersion faster than inconsistency and the more detailed the lore is the faster and more frequent it'll happen.
They've literally killed any interest I had for any future PVs or lore dumps by writing themselves a bunch of text they have no way of following up on.
Not to mention even without immersion how the fuck is chat supposed to playfully interact with the characters lore? Even on the most basic streamer level they have failed.

The fact there's such a big emphasis on telling a story, rather than just character descriptions, makes me think they're gonna add some scripted events once in a while.

It's a big leap to go from EN1's supernatural beings to a literal pantheon of gods in EN2. Why would a god call a human detective or a phoenix a senpai? They are getting set up for a guaranteed disappointment to the audience because aside from rrat it's going to be hard for them to maintain a "god-like" character for a long time.

It also paints them into a corner. Where do you go after you have gods representing the entirety of space and time? Is EN3 going to be somehow BIGGERER gods? Representations of entire universes? Lower gods, filling out a greek or shinto style pantheon like a god of love for a VN player, a god of toilets for a kusoge chuuba? Elemental dragons of air/fire/water/earth? Angel/demon servants linked to the existing gods? Why would you go back to characters like animals or RPG adventurers or sports club managers when the last batch was omnipotent beings?

Overall it feels like chuuni-tier insecurities and trying too hard, and people getting stuck up their own asses trying to make something "cooler".

This is the core mistake of the complex lore, it piles on even more expectations than what they already have as members of the world's most internationally recognized vtuber company. It's no longer enough to be entertaining and interesting, now they also have to justify calling themselves literal gods. It would work as a setup for characters in a manga who can be written to have x or y personality, but it's inherently dissociative when they are actors directly interacting with an audience over long hours with no script.

The dumbest thing is that they'll drop their stupid backstories in a month.

I didn't want to be the guy who compares vtubing to prowrestling but fuck it, I get why people aren't buying these 200-words essay of lore: it's just like when a promotion creates a gigantic circus of promos to hype a character on some shmuck with zero charisma and/or no ring talent, and they just flunk on their debut because the audience didn't bite it (sometimes they're not even bad, the audience reaction was cold by chance or whatever). The difference is that with corporate-level vtubing, they can't just retire the fully rigged character and bring the performer back to try again with a new model. A girl will have to stick with it and keep streaming until it works with the audience, at the worst possible end she'll stick with an average of < 1000 viewers.
I'm not saying this Gen 2 is going to have Zeus tier of overhyped expensive debut leading to a wet fart, because that ain't happening. I'm positive that viewers and the girls will forget all this backstory, play up the most basic version of their characters just as if they had three sentences of lore from the start. Simple as that.
