Design is all over the place, and the outfits themselves are way overdone. The deviantart-tier lore doesn't help either, fans want to see cute and entertaining characters with a simple fantasy theme, not omnipotent beings who are already trying too hard before even debuting.
Holomyth itself was already pushing it, unsurprisingly most of their lore was just kinda ignored after a week. Ina is the only one who actually made it work somehow, even Kiara doesn't bring up much of her volume-long character concept anymore, which is for the best really.

Usually when a new generation or wave is introduced, there's a small period of time where they just don't look like they mesh well or fit aesthetically, but gradually that fades over time as you see them next to other Holos. These art styles and designs, however, are too radically different. They don't look cohesive even in their own wave, let alone with the rest of the Holos. Irys has the same issue.

Lore is cool usually, but it's really fucking hamfisted and strange. Something like a grim reaper or shark being an idol is a bit whacky, but it's fine enough, but literal entities of harmony, chaos and time? If doing their job is as hard as its claimed to be in the trailers, why are they also being an idol on top of that AND streaming? Why is the entity of chaos a ratt? Looking at the comparison, the EN2 characters have nicer, more detailed aesthetics. I like most of the designs, although space is too brown and rrat is too red.

This is where I really take issue with your opinion. After the Irys debacle, I have zero faith that they can find talents who can entertaningly roleplay these well designed characters. I want to believe. It's certainly possible. But that would be the best case scenario (for us viewers) where all of them are incredibly engaging. Niji would be absolutely decimated as a consequence, at least until EN is allowed to collab with them. But that's a price I'm willing to pay for Gamers 2 Chuuni Boogaloo. It just doesn't seem realistic.

The image you posted already sums it up neatly, but I'll bite anyhow.

There's always hope that the girls themselves end up with breakout moments and a good character, but that's an uphill battle with those designs and excess baggage being shilled on how they should behave.

The other thing is that EN1 had some serious clout with Ina's artistry and Mori's singing, and even Kiara had talents in bridging social gaps with her talk show segments. What's left for EN2 to even be content creators of? Can't even be experimental, Amelia fills that niche.

They're a generation created and based solely off of their predecessor's successes, and they've been given instructions to stay in that narrative by their bosses. Lots of money went into them, but no heart or thought. I still hope the best for them, anyway.

Like the first one, the last one is okay. Even the middle one has a certain kind of simplicity and strong identity to her. Perhaps even the most out of the five. She also has that old school anime facial, which i appreciate.

The other 2 are well done, but are a bit too over complicated, for the sake to keep up with modern art. Same problem with the 1st gen nijiEN. Too much going on that they have little in terms of first impression staying power.
