I agree Niji hits the right spots for early hiring, but ultimately its the marketing that hurts them the most, and their "nationalistic" fanbase that simply drags the company down right after their debut. I'm pretty sure its the mix of Japanese autism in letting foreginers mingle, and the protective fanbase. The berlin wall that separates the NijiJP and NijiEN made everything moves at a snail pace. Early HoloEN was like this too (with only HoloAmongus top support the relationship), but thankfully the sepration problem was dealt with quickly post-omega era. Nijisanji has always felt like, yeah we made an "EN branch so you can fuck off from my JP vtuber channels and stay there"
Hololive never had this problem, when compared with Nijisanji, the old Hololive netuyos audience have been filtered due to Hololive acceptance of overseas viewers (Korone, Fubuki, Haachama) during the pandemic and fucked off to Nijisanji during those time. And most of the HololiveEN fanbase in JP consist of highly educated, and knows some english with broader mindset. They are more open to change and less prone to burning other vtubers down.

From what I see on japanese clips, they are keen at translating the VSPO EN vtubers right out the gate (thanks to first mover advantage of HoloEN TLs like Garzen), they are quick at capitalizing potential JP to EN audience. Even the VSPO JP members (except one) gave some remarks and at the very least acknowledged their overseas branch members existence on twitter. I'm pretty sure they have ex-HoloEN staffs in their team emulating what works.
All they had to do, is simply provide some greetings and acknowledge your overseas expansion, and the box grows larger in the long run.
