Player movement is much faster in 3 compared to both 1 and 2, and the player can stunlock the lycanthropes with their own attacks. There are many, many opportunities in the game to go for R2 attacks as well. The mention of R1 and roll spam has been heavily over exaggerated. A strength build is one of the easiest builds for the game.
The only thing I can agree with you on is teleporting dogs. Outside of that, it's a fantastic game with excellent pacing, good level design, and balanced gameplay and bosses where every build works.

They ALL punish you like crazy when you heal now. Most of my kills I still had like 8+ flasks.

I think that's honestly Biboo's biggest issue with the game, she plays way too conservatively. Once you learn the attack patterns, you need to be decisive and commit to an attack. Even if you dodge 90% of the attacks, the longer a fight drags out, the more chances you'll die due to messing up one combo. She should supplement her attacks with jump attacks whenever she can to get in that extra damage. But knowing Biboo, she will continue beating her head against the wall and force me to kneel when she inevitably perfect dodges a boss for like 5 minutes straight.

The only concern for a player in an arena should be the arena itself, not needing to ignore portions of it because you know the camera is going to fuck you over.

Anything behind the camera should not exist for the player. It's as simple as that and it's extremely simple to code but hardly anyone does it because of artistic vision or similar bullshit.
