1- she's the most consistant us timezone streamer in hololiveEN, this builds a community with a habit for watching her content
2- she's a good streamer to put on the second monitor because she just yaps and usually just is silly, while heavily interacting with her chat
3- she's relaxing to listen to, so she makes great background noise
4- she's one of the stronger streamers in EN (for quality), hell her witcher3 playthrough has been must watch content for over a month, and thats a game i 100% completed 7 years ago. it's pretty wild the numbers she's drawing with a 7yo game which has little to no replay value. which makes me suspect she could play through mass effect 1-3 and pull in her regular 8-12k viewers without trailing off.

I've never made that claim. Keep in mind there is at least one other anon involved in this discussion.
I might even concede that, in the case of Hololive, unicorn-pandering IS part of their success, though only part.
What I would definitely argue is that the initial claims, that unicorn pandering is a or THE central aspect of a vtubing corpo's success, is totally false. There are counterexamples in both directions I've already listed: non-unicorn-friendly companies that are thriving (Phase, Vshojo) and unicorn-friendly companies that are floundering (Production Kawaii). In fact, there is not even a single example of a successful unicorn-friendly company besides Hololive. This doesn't even mean that unicorn pandering is a bad strategy, it works for Holo after all, but it does mean it is neither necessary for success or sufficient to ensure success in companies that are lacking in other areas.
