Hey maybe you guys can help me with an OBS issue. I have two monitors both connected to my PC, one is hdmi and the other is not hdmi (forgot what its called) but anyway to experiment with streaming I tried connecting my xbox to the PC that does not have hdmi.

Here's where the problem starts. I can switch my monitor from display port to hdmi 1 and it works, i can see my xbox start screen. However, no option on OBS exists to ever show the screen. I've tried game capture, display, window, but every option it shows is limited to the display port and not the HDMI. Is there a way to resolve this?

Side note it has no sound either, though to be fair I'm still figuring out my mixer.

Normally I play my xbox on a T.V. Then I thought "hey my primary PC has two hdmi ports I'm not even using" So I unhooked it from my TV and linked it with my main monitor and tried to see if I could capture it on OBS while my main monitor was still connected to the computer. That is when I started running into the issue of OBS not giving me the option to capture the HDMI port of my primary monitor. I had OBS on my second monitor and checked every option but was unable to find out and that's when I turned here.

You can keep it hooked up and switch to the console screen as long as your monitor allows it, and it should allow it as long as it's a modern one. You just need to switch to the right source when needed, that's what I do.
