So >>78061095 from the last thread. After playing around with it last night, it is extremely horny and reminds me of Command-R+ for some reason. It follows cards and stories quite well and has vocabulary that isn't slop. However, it is dumb and got nerfed compared to how LLama 3 70B usually is. Also, the context size is smaller than other models at that size and it can go schizo but not too often and reloading the model isn't terrible. The first can be solved by some rope scaling but I haven't experimented enough with it. I would say it's 70B SOTA but not SOTA overall, CR+ and WizardLM2 are bigger and are better, but only marginally and it's not worth the compute to get that extra performance. And furthermore, you have to tune it really well to make it not dry and have a personality while Euryale comes out of the box good enough with a few tweaks. It is really close to Claude Sonnet IMO and could probably substitute it for most people. Ultimately good news for people when deprived of proxies that they have another option unless it's Opus or nothing.

How did you get it up to 30k? I have tabbyapi calculating alpha and the model goes off a cliff at this specific context I mentioned above - normally multi paragraph responses turn into single lines with stilted vocabulary and losing track if speakers which never happened before. I haven’t seen this happen even when I tested various iterations of story writer/ daybreak.

If you are using TabbyAPI and Exllama2, there's no way to do it without exploding because you need control manually over rope frequency base and frequency scale which hasn;t been implemented the last I checked. I use llama.cpp because I need to offload. YARN scaling is also different from the usual static or NTK Aware rope scaling strategies found in both llama and exllama, you modify the frequency scale instead and a couple of other parameters but I leave them at default.
