Yeah, you can set them to be macro buttons, I believe the typical thing to do is to set the bumpers to be whatever you need a bit of help hitting(often Square/Circle and Triangle/X, since those can't really be done one-handed like other combos), and the triggers to be all 4 face buttons, so you can just hit one while holding a face button and then release the face button. But you set both triggers because every time you press another hold, you have to swap.
