DMC is Capcom, anonchama, and sales figures never tell the full picture. Staying with Capcom RE6 was, at the time of it's release, one of their biggest games ever and sold like 5 million copies in it's first year alone. Not only the game was utterly hated by most of the playerbase it was also insanely expensive to make so that 5 million was still not enough to justify the costs and both of those factors (plus all the other failed projects they released) forced Capcom to reevaluate what the fuck they were doing. Anther more recent example was Spider-Man 2, a game that got great reviews and sold a lot but Sony pumped so much fucking money on it that "selling a lot' was not enough and people at Insomniac ended up losing their jobs because of it.
