I think I get where you're coming from, though. I personally miss the time when people used to read gaming articles and shit like that. Videos being the main method of consumption of reviews and the like just increase the workload by a shitton with not enough benefit. It filters writers based on free time and (lack of) need for income to pay their bills instead of what they have to say. The time to complete the games themselves is already a huge barrier compared to how long most games take compared to movies or anime, and then you have to capture and edit shit, which is also a bigger pain in the ass than in other media because missing something can mean as far as playing through half the game again, instead of rewinding and capturing again, in a process that takes about 15 seconds.
Luckily enough, I got into this hobby after the so called golden period, so I'm just having fun, instead of lamenting that only garbage has a chance to thrive. Towa's birthday concert was phenomenal.
