I'm tempted to say that hype is a meme as much as it isn't because it has the opposite effect on me. The more hype that builds in me the less interested I become.
Even in the case of Polka's 3D (since it was shared in the thread) I stayed up all night it watch it live because I wanted to see it, but the hype reached it's peak and the stream started I lost all interest, closed the stream, and went to bed. I would then watch it 2 weeks later, after people stopped posting about it.

I don't think I'll ever understand the need to drum up hype and expectations with unnecessary waiting when things are already ready and people have been waiting a month or 2 by that point

I've only had one Holo I really watched before Fuwawa and Mococo, and she had very similar asperations. Her 3d reveal was amazing and her first year at FES was incredible and made her really happy. I'm expecting much the same for these two, both for fans and for them. There's no reason to get wrapped up in what-if's or worrying about the future until we get there, because once they have one of the bigger, achivable goals down, it's a 'where do we go from here' thing.

This is the most disappointing thing about the film, really. Technically it's pretty good, with good performances by charismatic leads and some excellent cinematography and staging. The story even has potential - you see two young people, they have a meet-cute, they go through struggles to get together, they eventually do, then you see them again in old age. It's just that the way it was filmed literally every single happy part of their relationship takes place offscreen: settling in together, getting married, having kids, their whole life together really. It's like someone cut out the whole last act of the film, seeing all the drama lead up to absolutely nothing and a timeskip feels worse that pointless.
