Nijisanji downfall began when it began to care more about investors and shareholders rather than the vtubers and their fans.

One consistent thing about everyone that has left niji is that they are shocked when people follow them after they leave niji, like niji basically drills into them that they are nothing without niji. Now, with that in mind the whole "you cannot do voice acting or any entertainment thing outside of niji" makes sense. It isn't because they don't want you competing against them, it's that if you do things like that outside of niji they cannot drill it into you that you are nothing without them because you are exposed to how people react to you outside of niji thus showing you that you don't need them for people to like you.
