If they made Kaela the last boss after the Ender Dragon (instead of Pekora), a lot more people would have died. Kaela being a tryhard normally means the other girls don't have to try but if she was the enemy, then suddenly it'd be a bloodbath. The problem is she wouldn't like that (she enjoys helping them) and also, there'd be a lot of warring communities if dead people stayed dead. But if you wanted actual deaths you probably do need to have two factions with equally-divided relative tryhards trying to kill each other and Kaela being the neutral god who helps both sides get stronger.
